Description Figured it was about time I did a proper tank design for the ASU in Epiverse. Inspired by the many iterations of eastern main battle tanks, from the early cold war to the modern day.

The IDI Type-117, bearing the nickname "Hyena" among crews in reference to the sound of its diesel engine starting, came to represent the cornerstone of ASU's armored cavalry operations. Built on the successes of previous Cold War Soviet tanks, and produced in vast quantities, it would see action in over 90% of all battles fought in the Third War.

The turret was structured around the newly created KB-109 137mm smooth bore gun that was capable - like the 125mm in its predecessor, the T-90 - of firing Anti-Tank Guided Missiles. Some parts from previous soviet tanks were carried over, to cut costs where there did not need to be new designs.

Armament included the main gun as well as a coaxial NG-11 Sextant, a turret mounted NG-04 GMG (meant to be able to be quickly dismounted in case the crew needed to evacuate, giving them an automatic support weapon). Perhaps most notably though, is the miniature light auto-cannon in the rear comprised of a sighting system and .90 cal M1000, meant to provide anti-aircraft fire. Though it could also engage ground targets, it had a poor firing angle below horizon due to being so low-set into the turret.

When CASCA "Charged" armor became available to ASU engineers, existing T-117s were retrofitted as often as possible with segments of the new armor plating and a small auxiliary generator was added under the rear of the turret, to power the armor. The T-117 performed exceedingly well when coupled with this armor upgrade, and was considered by most New World tank crews and officers to be significantly superior to the aging M1 Abrams tank.

There were some variants of the tank used for other support roles.
T117-ShO: Utilized a 155mm half-length "Assault gun", but was otherwise identical. Used by combat engineers as a demolition vehicle, to lob oversized HE rounds at buildings or fortified positions.
T117-EA: Autogun turret replaced with larger quad-turret of M1000s, main gun removed and Anti-air rocket pods added instead. Used for Anti-aircraft duties.
T117-SU: Main cannon replaced with rifled 120mm long gun, for tank-hunting purposes. Was also stripped of the autocannon turret and non-essential equipment, and given a more powerful engine in order to facilitate faster speed, better maneuverability, and ammo storage space.

At first I thought it was a Walker Bulldog Light tank, or something of the sort. But this is cool

Omg

Omg omg omg it is bristling with guns I think I'm in love. Have you drawn any of the variants? Lookin' towards the SU in particular! Seriously why can't this tank be real.

Glad you like it! There's also another, slightly more up to date drawing here: [link] I haven't gotten around to doing any of the variants yet, though I'd like to!

It looks like a T-72 with an odd number of track wheels, and the turret looks like a T-80, and the gun...that's all you.

Looks cool.
