Description The Type 101 has been in service with the Koshyan military for over 20 years now, serving mostly as a tank destroyer - though the vehicle has also been used as a base for others, such as the Type 111 anti-aircraft vehicle and several self-propelled howitzers.

Designed from the outset to have a rather wide firing arc, as well as an exceptionally low hull-down profile. Originally open top, modern variants are fully enclosed with approximately two times as much armor plating as the first model, often supplemented by reactive armor bricks. Other modernizations include smoke-dispensers, a night-optics package and advanced sighting addition, and improved suspension to more quickly cover difficult terrain.

Once the Koshyan Army's largest armored vehicle, she was constantly up-gunned during her years of service to compete with increasing armor technologies. For a time, she would serve as the Koshyan's main battle tank until the Type 117 was introduced; prior Koshyan tanks often focused on higher speeds and smaller profiles, and so the Type 101 was the only armored vehicle that could carry the largest cannons and keep up with the rest of the division.

In the rocky hills of her home nation, she was able to take advantage of her strengths in low hull-down profile and high penetration probability of the main gun on most forms of heavy armor. They were exceptionally effective during the harsh winters, where crews could dig in and make the vehicle almost entirely invisible behind a snowbank or under a group of alpine trees.

What is that "blanket" on the turret for?
Not the first time IRL i've seen that

on this one, pretty much to just keep the rain out. On most of them IRL, seals the turret for NBC protection

Really cool design. As for the front hatch, the SU-100 had a similar design if I recall correctly.

Almost all the SU-series TD's from the SU-85 to the SU-152 had the same general hull design with minor differences. The main way to tell them apart was by what kind of gun they mounted.

Heheh, this is such a tiny nitpick that I actually feel kinda silly pointing it out... But in one of your comments there, you mention liking having the driver's viewport on the hatch. Funny thing, though... When you flip the door closed, that viewslit is pointing straight skyward, because the hatch is on a 45-degree hinge. To replicate this for visualization, hold your hand flat, as if it was that door. Put a pencil through your closed fingers to represent the direction of the view, then "close the door". The pencil should now be vertical.

Very nicely done work, Pyro. Ignoring the pesky nitpicky details that Kody and I are bringing forward, your actual style here presents a very clear and informative depiction of a believable vehicle.

I'm having a hard time visualizing what you mean. Although I admit it's not immediately apparent, the hatch is supposed to slide into place and then be pulled inwards to lock flush with the armor exterior - it isn't on any hinges.

Thank you though, I honestly do appreciate the nitpicks. :3

Ohhhhhhhh, okay. If it's on sliders, then that doesn't matter. I see what you mean. Had thought it was a hinged mechanism. The connector rods there are a bit on the ambiguous side.

Yeah. I couldn't think of any especially clear way to show that XD

The Russians called, they want their tank back

Nah, a nice variation of it JSU-122/155 series.
The canvas top is nice touch, but the door on the front shield might be a fatal flaw. It's a nice look, but if you noticed with all other Anti-Armor Tanks that their front armor was thick and all hatches were ontop/back to the front, for its main combat is to be all frontal, no sides or back.
But say if it's an artillery version, understandable, for it's not meant to be right in combat.

You make a good point, it's probably not the best location for a door in hindsight

This is technically a tank destroyer so it would indeed be on the front lines of combat, and that may be an issue. I might just revise that out of any future version, not sure. I do kind of like that position for the driver's periscope to be though, so I may keep the view port there.
