Totally disappointed about Nathaniel 
I like Anders and I thought he was an awesome companion in my party but I don't know if I'll romance him. I didn't have that kind of connection with him in Awakening.

I was writing a fan fiction about how I made Alistair king and cos I was an elf he couldn't marry me, but Anders reminded me so much of him ( I mean come on they look exactly the same!) and my warden and he fell in love or w/e.
I'll see how it goes in DA 2 but i'll be romancing him with my mage for sure.

He looks a lot like Alistair, except that he seems to have a more "cut" (narrow?) jawline. His personality is similar too, except that Anders has greater confidence and values independence more than Alistair. One of my noble characters (Taliesyn) romanced Alistair and became Queen. The other one (Helena) had her heart broken...
I'm playing an elf mage now. She romanced Leliana, but I broke it off with her for Alistair (sorry, Leliana). I couldn't help it...I think Alistair is adorable (even if he will break her heart eventually) and I love his romance...Oh well, maybe she'll romance Anders.

I really felt for him, mostly because I was playing my Human. I couldn't get mad because he really had no idea. Also it's because of him I wish the side stories had more meat to them -.- damn you EA

I know, I know. I was so disappointed to hear he would not be a companion in DA2. Curse you, Bioware!!!! Maybe an expansion pack on the horizon??? Probably not -- Bioware would never do something to satisfy its female followers

you never know. never. but it is unlikely given that he was supposed to die in at least two epilogues

I didn't know Nathaniel was supposed to die in 2 epilogues -- I always thought he survived somehow. I inadvertently left him at Vigil's Keep the first time I played (silly me) and he survived, later saving Fergus' sorry butt. After that, he was always with my character and of course, survived.
To be honest, of all the Awakening companions, I would have thought Justice would have inhabited Nathaniel's body, not Anders (as is supposedly the case in DA2) since Nathaniel seems sort of receptive to the idea based on a conversation they had. Oh well...

well you have the option to kill him early in the game or he can die defending the keep.
i agree, anders is a weird choice, i would have gone with the keep lady myself.

then again anders had several points he could die, but thats apparently why Justice is in him due to just that.
my feeling is Anders was picked over Nathaniel due to humor.
(plus i think that despite what the author said, Anders is the bastard child to Maric at the end of the 2nd book, he mother was a powerful elven mage...)

I'm teasing about Aeltari -- she's been so kind about my Dragon Age work even though she professes to despise the game.

I just read Ch 69 of The Phoenix Fire. I really enjoyed it, especially Thalia's interaction with Casavir. Reading it made me fall in love with him all over again

There's always room for improvement in these games, as much as I love them. I understand completely your sentiment on combining NWN2 and DAO. When I first played DAO last year, I thought, "Oh, this is my favorite game, even better than NWN2!" Alas, I returned to my beloved NWN2 and thought, "No, THIS is my favorite game!!!"

When I started playing Dragon Age (Female City Elf), I thought it was pretty good and that it was very well done. But in the end, I ultimately preferred NWN and NWN2 - honestly, I don't know why...maybe I'm more interested in the Forgotten Realms gameplay and such 
Modders can improve the romances in the game, but sometimes it can't compare with the vivid imagination

The Forgotten Realms is an awesome world filled with so many fascinating characters. I did notice the play on the names of Casavir and Daeghun 
You're absolutely right that gameplay is no substitute for a vivid imagination. I do wish, however, that Bioware, EA or whoever the powers may be paid a bit more attention to the demands of their female fans.
