I went to visit a friend today, who lives in a beautiful neighborhood. Ironically, the name of the neighborhood is Gold Creek, which fits this picture as well as the entire neighborhood perfectly! I really wanted to try out some more HDR imaging, and I'm so glad I went out and got these pictures, even through the 15 degree weather and chilling wind! Β

well, where I live, it won't be until spring. luckily I live fairly close to a botanic garden that does events year-round

The HDR really gives the grass in this image a coarse look. Β You can almost feel the texture! Β This makes me want to get out and do more HDRs!

It does me too! I shot these images for the sole purpose of experimenting with HDR's, and it was so much fun. I'm definitely going to do a lot more in the future. Β

The grass will be low and not so impressive... but green.

Well believe it or not the grass is never cut in these fields, so I'm not sure how much it'll change. I'm really excited for a sunny day where there's more clouds, to give a cooler feel! Β

The grass will be cut by nature in wintertime, to start new in spring, blooming, getting seeds, a new circle of life.

And: yes, clouds are cool, blue sky is kind of boring (for a photographer).

I honestly am not a huge fan of blue skies. I love it when the sky looks like it's almost about to rain for HDR's, it adds such an intense and dark feel to the image. I love it! But, even just some clouds on a sunny day look way better than a blue sky, especially for HDR's.Β

I like blue skies, being on the beach or in a track & field stadium.

But for photos, yes, looking like rain with a lot of light is much better.
