Description I know that some of you out there, for some reason or other, wish to see more art from me. Β I have no idea why, but it's been expressed.

Frankly, the reason I post so sparingly, is because I'm too much of a perfectionist. I don't have much time to sit and draw anymore, and when I do, what comes out is usually so terrible that I'm embarrassed to post it. The only time I manage to finish anything is when, somehow, the stars align and I manage to sketch something that doesn't look like crap, and so I decide to finish it, but those moments are far apart, and it takes me even longer to finish. Essentially, whatever picture I have in my head takes WAY too long to draw, and I usually give up before I'm anywhere close to finishing.

Well... I'm going to try something. You'll notice that I've only been posting non-colored sketches for a while, but even some of those sketches take longer than I have to give to any particular picture. So I figured... to heck with it. You'll probably notice a distinct dive in my picture quality and coloring, but as a result, hopefully, you'll see me start to post a bit more here and there. Who knows? I might even start to improve.Β

My hands are going to look like total crap though. I really should just sit and practice those things.

Anyway... who is this, you might ask? Well... back when I developed my unnamed reploid character (who you can see here I actually developed a crew to go with her. This is crewmember number 2. She is also unnamed (you can see how far I got into the development of these character) and was to serve as a counterpart. Both were behind-the-lines support reploids, but whereas the blond was no-nonsense, stoic and all business, this little gal was very much the opposite. Bubbly, bright and optimistic. In my mind I had her as a sort of 'spellcaster' type reploid. Her creator rigged her with all sorts of experimental weapons systems that were volatile and unstable but allowed her to call upon a wide variety of elemental AOE attacks. As a safeguard- just in case she ever happened to go maverick- she was designed that in order to 'fire' these weapons, she would first need to cite an 'incantation' that proved the trigger for the attacks. The incantation had to be 'audible' and was matched to her specific voice print, which leaves her weak to any weapon that would disrupt sound waves or damage her audio receptors. Of course, even another reploid could mimic her voice and cast the 'spell', but it also required her to concentrate on doing so... a bit of a two-step process, to prevent that from happening.

This is the first time I've ever colored her.... so I don't know if I'm set on the final design/coloration. What do you guys think? I'm open to suggestions.

I think she looks great. The colors work to me. I'm a sucker for pink hair and she's got it! She seems almost like a magic caster in the way her weapons work and elemental AOE attacks. I would love to do fan art of her dressed as a sorceress if it were closer to halloween. xD

Another cutie for the swimsuit jam! XD But yeah, she really is a cutie. The cheerful looking characters are always so charming. Nice work on the design too. She looks unique, but she has enough similarities with the other unnamed reploid to make them feel related. And I'm really liking that color scheme! Makes her look a bit exotic and mysterious, just like her magic-based background. Speaking of magic, I really like how you put a believable and more sci-fi twist to how she goes about with her magicking. Another awesome job! Hope to see more soon.

Well, if you want. I won't complain.

Honestly the design and the character traits were kinda developed apart from each other, the idea to make her a 'sorceress' style reploid coming to me after I'd already pretty much decided on her looks, so they didn't really relate to one another much. I probably should've tweaked it, but wasn't sure how.

Of course, it's not really magic going on here. Just a unique style of weaponry with a particular trigger. You can say her 'mother' was a bit eccentric. Β She doesn't talk about her much.

Nice concept. It's nice to always have a cheerful character to usually counter the serious one, good dynamics right there.

I think she's cute. Maybe a name for her could be something like Arcane or Magica or something like that seeing how she's spellcaster based.

It's a tried and true cliche, though I had a few ideas for the story swimming through my mind that would mix things up concerning their personalities.

Alas alack, I doubt it'll ever come to pass.

Thank you! It's pretty simplistic, but it turned out.

I like the color scheme and I think this looks pretty damn good.
Just need a name.

Coming from you that's quite a compliment.

And yeah, as you can see, I've been pretty lazy with my character creation.

Aww I think she's cute, and I like purple. If you wanna keep with the spellcasting you might try some mage designs to. She might look silly with a hat though.

I tried a few designs to that regard, but they all felt... somewhat out-of-place in a Mega Man setting. I even tried giving her really long hair that gave her the appearance of a cloak. But given the current situation of any of my particular 'oc's' I doubt she'll ever get fully fleshed out.

Well, there WAS Berkana:Β megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Berkana
Who was a witch-themed Maverick, but I dunno how you feel about that.
Design looks really cool, she seems like a nice friendly Reploid! The incantation bit is an interesting detail I've never seen on a Mega Man character before, it's neat.

(Nice to meetcha by the by, recent watcher and all. Your stuff is really nice, glad you decided to share this one!)

Ah... X-Treme 2. Sadly, I have never been able to get my hands on any kind of handheld console, and as such, have mostly been unable to play all the Gameboy games, so I kinda missed that one.

It's true, I really should have put more thought into her design as a magic user. Β At least throw a cloak around her or something... but I find such clothing so difficult to deal with. I wanted more 'sorceress' than 'witch' but I don't think I even really got THAT across. She wasn't meant to be a combat reploid at any rate.

At any rate, nice to meet you! It seems Doll sent you my way. Don't be fooled! She'll talk me up, but I don't nearly live up to her expectations. I just like to draw sometimes.Β

Still, more the merrier! Thanks for watching, and your comment. They're always appreciated!

The handheld ones are pretty fun- sometimes more challenging than the originals thanks to the narrower screen space!
Probably emulators out there if you're into that sort of thing, but I do totally understand the appeal of playing on a classic cartridge, part of why I collect old physical copies of stuff.

I think as it is she has at least a bit of a "magical" vibe just from the hair, but even just giving her a glowing power gem or something can get that point across too in an understated way. I guess it really comes down to your vision for the character, whether you want her to be understated or overstated with her theme.Β

Wow, pretty harsh on yourself man! XD I think you're doing just fine, so don't beat yourself up over something like how frequently or how professionally you draw- do what you like, eh? Yes, Doll recommended you during a journal I did a while back where I was trying to encourage people to help share their friends' profiles so people within the robot/mecha/anime circle could find other artists with similar themes. It worked well too, discovered lots of other artists like yourself in the process!

It's true. I am my harshest critic. Mostly stems from the fact that my vision far exceeds my talent, and I have so many things I want to put on paper but I simply don't have the skill to do it right and so it's just a never-ending cycle of frustration, because I get frustrated when it doesn't turn out, and then I lose the desire to draw, which means I'm not practicing, which means I'm not getting any better and...

....bit of a catch 22, but only because I don't know how to stay with it through the frustration. I like to draw to relieve stress, not create it.

Well if the issue is having a pre-conceived idea of what a piece should look like in your mind and being frustrated with the result, why not try doing some pieces with no planning whatsoever? Heck, go in without any expectation of what the result will be. I find doing that really therapeutic, because regardless of whatever else it provides some linework practice, some colour experimentation- and by the end, there's something to learn from, whether I like the result or not.
For the record though, what you produce is really good, and even some of the great artists had that sense of uncertainty with their own work. Picasso is on-record calling himself "a fake and an imitator," which is ridiculous considering the guy went on to become one of the best known artists EVER. You're definitely not alone in feeling that way, I think on some level everyone does.Β

I actually do a lot of acting work, among other things, and I find that has really helped me find a lot more confidence in my work- being onstage/on camera/on mic is briefly daunting when I start performing, but once I find a rhythm it's really freeing.Β
