Description Several years ago, Rebecca Schumacher [link] gave me a pile of different clays at Dragoncon. Well, finally getting around to using some of it.

Attempting to make a BJD from scratch. Using La Dolle paper clay. So far the head, torso, and hands!

how do you construct the joints I've been trying to figure something out for myself. It would help to much if I could get some tips.

I'm a novice! Shouldn't follow my tutorial on this. It's my first attempt, and haven't finished it yet. Here is the tutorial I followed however: [link]

Hey Steph - very cool work! I have a very good friend, Pat Lillich, who is heavily into bjds. Her blog is here: [link] - she's wonderful and may assist you in building these beauties.

I'm so glad you're sculpting, and so glad we're friends, though I haven't seen you in quite a long time. I'll be at Norwescon and will attempt some other cons this coming year.

There's also a new LaDoll clay that's just scrumptious...anyway hope that's what you're using. I'm still addicted to Aves Apoxie Sculpt.

Love - Rebecca Schumacher Cox

Hello Rebecca! Wow, that's some amazing stuff in Pat's page. I wanted to make it to Norwescon this year, but of course missed the deadline by a couple of days. Doh! Next year maybe. Damon Bard gave me a bunch of tips for sculpting too!

Oh Damon is so cool! You'll love Pat aswell if you get to know her - so talented!

Well, as for Norwescon I bet they'd let you in girl...

I'll miss you but hope to see you sometime this year.

i was wondering if that clay [la doll] is durable enough to make those. and to be handled a lot?

A really fantastic job on this doll so far. I can't wait to see the finished result.

I got a 14" tall doll that isn't even done yet...it's going to be Nanny Ogg from Terry Prachett's Discworld novel, Wyrd Sisters... going to do the other 2 witches, Granny Weatherwax
& Magrat Garlic later on, you CAN"T have one witch without the other two.

Awesome! I've always wanted to try doing that, but everytime I make something with clay, I somehow manage to smoosh it into bits before I finish. xD By accident, of course, haha. Those hands must have been really hard- look how tiny they are!

Well, this definitely looks like something interesting. I'm curious whether a doll made by you will still have some of the charm of your painted figures...

Well I'm sort of following this, though I'm using La Doll for the whole thing instead of the sawdust mixture:
