A silly doodle based of my Betta, Viper.. who sadly went to the fish bowl in the sky.Those who own bettas can surely relate?

this is adorable, I'm on my first ever betta fish, he's so much more fun then a goldfish, i love him to bits, iv only had him a week

I haven't used a mirror yet, but the tank my Betta Drago is in has a light over it, and when it's turned off he can see his reflection in the back of the tank and he spends a good 3 minutes just flaring at himselfย

My last betta died of ich. Now I have two. Raphael and Donatello. Donatello goes POOF when I put a mirrir in front ofย him and Raphael runs from the damn thing.

My betta's too little to flare yet at another betta, himself or another fish. (still a baby) but he'll flare if I give him pellets instead of flakes sometimes

hmph, my betta fish, FISHY SWA... I put a mirror in the tank and he just kept on following me around the tank. That's all he does. Follow me. Follow my finger.

I tried that with my betta, Patriotic Skittles, and he tried to KILL that mirror. His gills were all puffed out!

Yup. When they're not showing off their fins to anyone that's watching, most of the betta fish my family owned liked to watch you O.O
Though, I'm hoping I can discourage my family from having another betta fish after the last one we have. All of ours have died gruesome deaths at age 3 (except for aforementioned last one; he's 4). I'm begging them to give the poor old guy a heated rock so that he an survive the upcoming fall and winter as well, though I'm sure they're gonna be cheapos and "forget" to buy one like last time.
That's not a good sign when family members aren't trying hard enough to keep their pets comfortable

Hehe, yeah the females can be pretty mean, too. I had some that needed their own space like a male x.x. They even flare their gill covers, but it's not as impressive looking as the males' X3
