I knew there were at one time like essays and stuff explaining why black people weren't really people. I always consider that fact whenever I read ''logical'' arguments against homosexual marriage, and how they insist gay-lesbian rights are not at all like women rights or racial rights.
Part of me thinks we as humans revoked our entitlement to be prejudiced. Long ago, and many times.

Prejudice is a funny thing -- it allows our brains to form categories so we can classify and organize everything we experience, so we do not have to relearn what everything is, or what similar items are. It's when these prejudices become rigid and unable to flex with new information that we become bigoted.
What this means... we'll never be rid of prejudice; it's ingrained in us all. But we could learn how to allow children to learn beyond rigid categories and how to remain flexible. I'm not completely sure of this -- studies suggest that some are, unfortunately, just have a genetic predisposition for inflexible reasoning.

I will do so!
You see, I've been having some heated debates with close people to me... Mainly, because I'm Pagan. Because I believe there is special power held within the Earth and all her beauties. What is so wrong in this?
What is wrong with homosexuality? If it is never "allowed," they can never be happy. How would people like it if they could never see their spouse out in public, never be married, never have children of their own, legally?
People make me sick sometimes. I intended to create a sort of website dedicated to this, to spread the word around.
And that book is on my bookshelf, LOL.

It's strange to think of how many things could happen afterwards.
The man having climbed out could easily offer a hand back to his companion, and help him to climb out of the hole - in doing this, would the believer still be able to see god?
He could also just as easily bury the other man alive, something i wouldn't exactly approve of! Hah.
I like this. it's ambiguous enough for us to make our own choices, but with enough meaning for interpretation.

It's good to see views I can relate with. It's not easy living in the Bible belt where you're either a Christian or part of the Damned. I love the picture, truly.

Great message! But ask the man who left what his life means to him now that he's out of the hole...then ask the one who's still in the hole. Whose life will have real meaning? *sigh* I can understand your criticism of religion. But for better or for worse, human beings need to believe in some sort of God-like concept for their lives to have meaning. I'm a devout Christian who completely disagrees with the decisions Bush has made, and I also believe that gays/lesbians all over the world should have the right to marry in churches that choose to marry them (which is precisely what we've done in some provinces in Canada). The churches have defined marriage themselves; the State has no right telling them who to unite in marriage.

I disagree with your conception that people need to believe in god to truly have meaning in their life. I am an atheist, and I have and am capable of having just as much meaning and happiness in my life as you are, and in some ways I believe more. I am living for myself and those around me, I am not living in the delusion that there is going to be this great life after I die which prevents me from living now. God is fine, and belief in him is fine too, but don't let that give you an excuse to not value life and what it's worth just because you have somewhere else to go after. The man inside the hole has found the message of god yes and may be more complete in your eyes because of it, but the man outside of the hole is still outside, he has the whole world in front of him to live in, to appreciate and to experience, while the man in the hole only has a hole, and god. Harbouring religion is one thing, but don't let it close your mind to the world around you, new experiences and new ideads and thought.

Haha, yeah. It is nice to come across a christian that isn't close-minded every once in a while. I'm not used to them, which is probaly deluding my opinion in a paranoid way. Hahah, I live in Utah (which still supports bush.....slash cry) :/
I do appreciate that you took the time to respond though! Thanks. You comment claryfied your opinion more which was good cause I was confused. Anyway, much love <3

Maybe, but don't forget, that completely surrounding yourself by people who share your opinion is a form of close-mindedness in and of itself. Because, in this case you're shutting out (whether intentionally or not) all of the other opinions that may challenge yours or may be different, thereby only allowing you one reality. Diversity is good. For that very reason, and it's the reason democracy works so well. The more opinions you allow yourself to hear and be ingulfed in the more knowledge you have and the more power and capability you have to make better decisions because you have more options and more information. It's also just good to get out and experience, listen to, and try new things! It boost creativity!! w00t <3

I love this. Definitely a favourite...and you know, what isn't ticking me off so much isn't that these people have their own beliefs, it's that they try to restrict me with them. Like a letter I got supporting the FMA-'children do better in two-parent homes' News flash, the kid is going to be in a two-parent home. My wife and I, married or not.

i know what you mean. but you must understand that the only ppl you ever hear about in the media are extremists... even if the religion itself is very peaceful. take judaism, for example. i'm starting to think most christian concepts are just to scare ppl, tho, and i was christian up until a few weeks ago, realizing this from my world religions class... but i still believe in God, just not in the christian way.
aie, enough rambling >_< hehe, i would go on, but i dun think you wanna hear meh religious rants now, neh? ^^;;

Not sure, either way - it wouldn't be productive.
However, there's nothing that says that other person couldn't climb out also and still believe in god. Better for that second person to help the first out of the ground, and allow them to live a higher existence complete with faith and hope.

It does not need to be productive. Just as you said in the description; that some people when they reach/find God they start trying to tell people how to live etc. That was just my interpretation of it. I'm not arguing with you, just saying what I saw. On another note I must say that I really enjoy many of your other works.
