So yeah, this started out as an example of my $5 headshot commissions, and as I was shading this all the sudden I thought "Hey, this looks like Fireheart!" So I ended up coloring it to look like Fireheart. I seem to do that a lot with my cat paintings, turning them into warriors at the end.I'm happy with the way I do fur and eyes, but I can never seem to find out how to detail those noses right. xP I remember viewing this tutorial a while back on how to paint a realistic wolf, and all they did for the nose was add white specks on it. I tried to do the same and it did not come out right....

Why is this a scrap? This is truly amazing.
But how do you do the fur? The fur I draw just doesn't look right. >.>

The reason it's a scrap is because it's just a floatin head with a grey background. 
Also, for the fur I used the fur brush from this pack: [link] and I added individual strokes and color with Paint Tool Sai. The fur brush alone won't help though. First you have to know what direction the fur is even supposed to go in the first place.

Oh I see. If this was mine I'd be shoving it peoples faces, but that's just me. xD
Yes, I do think I'm confident in knowing which way the fur goes, it just comes out looking odd. Do you know any good tutorials? The trouble is finding them.

My favorite tutorial for fur and realism in general would have to be this one. [link] Not only does it give info on the fur, but it also goes into a little detail on drawing the eyes and nose. Before I got these brushes I used to draw each individual strand. (hence why I use brushes for realistic speed paint commissions, you get a similar effect in a much quicker time span xD).

Really professional and realistic.
But the right eye is a tiny bit small than the left (I see horribly, so I used magnify to look at the pic)
Other than that, you've caught Fireheart perfectly in every way.

Thanks for pointing the eye size out. Now that I look at it, I think what caused it is I added too much black around the right eye and not enough around the left eye so they ended up looking different sizes. I'll be sure to watch out for that in my future paintings.

I've always been bugged by my noses whenever I try to do more detailed pictures, both humans and animals. xD I actually surprised myself with this picture, a lot of the more popular brushes weren't helping. The one I used in this picture I was thinking "crap, how am I going to make this work...."

Tigerstar was an actual warrior with natural strength though which is what I like, I think Scourge mainly won because he reinforced his claws.

Yeah but it was pretty smart to do that, they lost only when he died because BloodClan didn't have the whole togetherness of a real clan.

Yeah, you're right. It was smart. Sometimes I forget that using your environment and having weapons doesn't necessarily make one weak. (I read that in one of my warrior/martial arts books, can't believe I forgot that point).
