Description Finished the linework and the base colors for my reconstruction of the my favorite stegosaur, the long-necked Miragaia longicollum. The plates & spines look larger & a bit gnarlier thanks to a healthy dose of keratin sheath. Coloring might be a bit of a challenge, but we'll see. Also note I ditched the shoulder spike from the sketch, because I figured even if it is speculative I'd have a bunch of people commenting/telling me that it's actually supposed to be a tail spike.

Dear me PBL, it never ceases to impress when one considers the intricacy of the integument on display here; it must take you AGES to get all those scales into place and I truly appreciate your efforts on behalf of an admiring audience.

I imagine they will, when their integument requires such intricate illustration!

A long time ago, I saw someone's speculative concept in which stegosaurs like Mirigaia evolved into sauropod-like large long-necked browsers, something like a 'pseudo-sauropod'. It's just a speculation, but what do you think?

I think for that to happen, they would have to out-compete sauropods for the same ecological niche.
