Himawari (Sunflower) was an NPC that I put into the Jade Regent game. There was a point in the game where the characters in Tian Xia and had to win an alliance with the local Geisha. There was a maiko NPC, who I instead put my own character in to replace her for the story, one who would continue on with the characters.

Himawari has a potent, intelligent magical, demon slaying holy avenger. (It disintegrates demons it hits, turning them into cherry blossoms instead of dust). Through possession the intelligent sword passed from owner to owner travelling back to the last of a certain bloodline who could unlock her powers, which was Himawari. The sword that can do divination once a day and told Himawari that one day a holy warrior would arrive at the Okiya, around the time when she was to become a full fledged geisha, and she should leave with him and gain training to fully use her ancestral sword.
So when Cobb Fhen (the cowboy paladin marshal) arrived at her Okiya she knew it was time and asked him to take her on as an apprentice. She was just approaching the time of her ceremony to become full geisha and the paladin fully paid off her debts so she could leave. (Not a mizuage, just paying off her debts to make her free of the Okiya. She had her ceremony to become a full Geisha during that week while the adventuring party spent time in her city.)

Anyhow, Himawari is a geisha turned paladin who still practices her artisian skills while learning to fight evil. It's a delicate balance and nearly burns her out, but she is dedicated to living this double life. (Now that the adventure path is over, she wound up dating one of the cowboy paladin's brothers.)

I did so much research on Geisha for this character! Seriously, over a week of reading everything I could find online. Then had to mix it with what was in the adventure path for Tian Xia, since it's not actually Japan, a fantasy Asia for Pathfinder and not 100% exactly like real world geisha, being a magical type of bard.

Anyhow, a novel of information about my character that probably nobody cares about. lol
