Description Umbreon plushie for a friend's birthday. It's about the size of a beanie baby. It's minky filled with fiberfill and some plastic beans, with felt eyes.

Ugh, this took forever. I expected the pattern to be fairly simple, but things didn't fit together the way I expected them to and I had to rip out the seams and start over, and make an entirely new head from scratch. I don't know why this one was such a problem child. I'm not even going to guess how long it took, with all the work I had to do to fix it. Also, I'm not doing markings like that until I learn how to embroider them with my machine. @_@ Doing it by hand takes way too long, and the results are not very good.

I tried to put a small bag with plastic beans inside to give it some weight, but it didn't feel the way I was hoping it would. If anyone knows of any tutorials for filling plushies with part beans and part fiberfill, and how to keep the beans from migrating to the wrong places, I'd love to hear it!

Ugh, I'm just glad to have this done. I hope the next one will be better.

x3 Your plushies are very cute and very well done.
Can I ask where you buy fabric? =w="

Thanks for the watch and fave. The fabric that I use for the main body areas is minky--it's super soft and pretty durable, but more expensive than fleece. You can get it at fabric stores, but I usually try to save money by looking for the color I want on www.etsy.com. There, you can find many colors by the yard and also frequently buy other people's scrap fabric for a discount.

For most facial features and eyes and stuff, I just use regular old felt--it's pretty easy to get. If you're planning on doing some sewing, I wish you luck!

This tutorial has a quick blurb near the bottomish about putting granulate in. It seems like it could be adapted for beans pretty easy. [link]

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to link that! Hm..That looks about like what I did. I'm guessing I either made the bag a little too big or filled it a bit too full, then. I'll just have to be more careful next time.

It wasn't really that much trouble. ^.^; But I'm glad it may have helped at least a little. Hope the next one comes out even better than this one.~ Though this one is really cute.
