Description Sharovipteryx - Sharovipteryx mirabilis, existed in early triassic.
A possible ancestor to the pterosaurs. It had a skin membrane stretched between it's long back legs, which it used to glide. It is one of the earliest gliding reptiles, measuring about 16cm long. It used its short front legs for manoeuvring, and had a similar design to a delta wing aircraft.

I used other palaeontological reconstructions as reference, as well as skeletal reconstructions. It's not 100% accurate, the tail is too short for a start, but I felt like having a go at creating a "realistic" ancient reptile.
The red colouration on its arms is used as a display to attract mates.

i'm just to much used to the arms become wings. therefore it looks more like an alien instead of a prehistoric animal

This sorta looks like an amazonian cryptid... They have legends of a king frog that flies by flapping its legs

I found it when I searched dA to see if anyone else had drawn one of these after I finished! I was like "Hah, that's a coincidence!"
