Description
Another landscape, this time inspired by a view I get a peek at every time I go to the city center. A bunch of houses have a straight view at the lake and the green islands that dot its sapphire surface. I must say I'm a wee bit envious of those people.Bonus points for anyone who finds the fish in this picture.Β

tried adding some depth to the trees. Eh, I suppose it sort of works. At least it's slightly better now.

Really love the clouds and how you did them really well. Looks like I could just roll around in them aaaah. Same goes for the water too, since I think you nailed the subtle reflections there too from the trees.
Though if I had one critique, it would be that the trees could be more. They seem featureless compared to the clouds and water. You could add another color and shade the trees so they pop out a bit more.

Happy to hear that the water looks good (even though I still think it looks pretty awful. But on the other hand, the evidence seems to slowly stack against that.)
I appreciate the critique and I have to completely agree with you on the trees. Now, this next bit might sound a bit like the usual bad response to criticism, but I actually tried to add some shading to trees at one point. I couldn't really make it look right so I just left them as a silhouette. I might have figured out a possible solution, but we'll have to see if it actually works once I get around to trying it out.

I don't think that was a bad response to criticism xD I mean you did attempt to try and get it. While it's frustrating, it'll work out in the end (hopefully).
Fingers crossed that the solution works. I'm trying to figure it out myself, but I need a lot more time than what I have right now.

Anyway, I think I sort of fixed the trees. I begrudgingly added two new colours to make the trees have at least some depth. The fact that they areΒ
bordering that point in distance where things start losing detail really screws with my head.Β

Woops I was tired last night so that went over my head. *falls over*
I checked out the new edits, and I think it does look a lot better than before. The flatness still screws with me, but I think one of the solutions would be to add shading on the front trees. I tried giving that a shot here: i.imgur.com/c1af2kW.png
but i dunno, I might have messed it up. I'm not that good with trees either (something I should practice honestly).

Aw, man. That's one of the things I tried doing but never got looking right. Your edit would be one solution, though the shading makes a few of the trees look a tad cylindrical imho. (But then again, that's something that can be fixed by moving about two pixels around.) Perhaps a combination of the two edits would work?
I think some more drastic measures might be in order, since I feel like the problem might also be partly because of the trees themselves. There's just something... universally weird about them. Time to wipe them out, redraw them and pray that it works!

Urgh, I think I have to put this piece into limbo for a while. Having stared at it for a couple of days now has made me too accustomed to it, which in turn makes any kind of progress almost impossible.
Hopefully once I start working on this again I've learnt how trees work.Β

I see a fish in the shape of the cloud! I like that, it's clever haha ~ Love the fluffy look of the clouds and the beautiful dithering in the sky, and the water textures in this are amazing. You can do so much with so little ;o;

Yeah, I really feel like I'm starting to get the hang of drawing clouds. Not so sure about the water though, I think it looks a bit rubbish. Though to be fair I haven't really done water before because it's such a pain to make look good.
