I remember visiting my grandparents on the farm when I was younger. I would be so excited to play with all the toys my mother and her siblings played with when they were young and to explore the grove with my brother. I was a little kid with tons of energy and always something to do!

I remember one time I came down from upstairs, chasing after some cousins, laughing and shouting, excited to play hide and seek around the farmyard. I heard something and stopped while the rest pushed and shoved out the front door. It was my grandma. She was humming the tune of a hymn as she did the dishes. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard. I knew that the others had probably already started playing outside but it didn't seem to matter. I just stayed and listened, if only for a minute or two.

I remember it as the first moment where I ever just stopped and thought about the beauty of something. As a young boy, I had never thought about anything like that before.

She still hums and, when I'm around, I still listen.
