Description I captured these bighorn rams on the elk refuge on Christmas Eve. I was going home to a delicious, warm feast and they were eating frozen dinners. Talk about a guilt trip! (In case you can't tell, the one on the left is trying to uncover food with that front hoof.) Some scrub was edited out in the front--and you can definitely tell--but I posted anyway because the rams are so entrancing.

I'm glad you like it! I've gotten mesmerized by the bighorn sheep and can hardly stay away.

I've been thinking about your capturing these guys since you first posted this photo and I have two questions: A. Did you have help? and B. Where did you put them when you got home? Thanks. Oh, and great photo, too.

Glad you like the photo. I captured them on my own and they are staying in our guest room for now.

I have never ever seen one and you have them to spare.

I do. And I don't even have to use a telephoto lens to capture them. But perhaps they are too fascinating... as I find myself photographing nothing else these days.

You're welcome! I've seen the females with their young in the wild, but never rams before.

Well, if can get to the National Elk Refuge (on the outskirts of Jackson) in the winter or in April/May timeframe, you are almost guaranteed to see the rams.

Something I'll definitely have to keep in mind--thanks! I'd love to go back out West again and photograph these wonderful animals.

Well, I'm sure you'll get the chance... only a question of when.

Why thank you! I think so too... though perhaps they had nowhere to go but up.
