Description As is so often the way, I went out looking for something else (bison calves in this case) and was therefore surprised when I found several clusters of pronghorns instead. Who would expect a pronghorn on Antelope Flats?! (Actually, though they look like some sort of antelope, they're not.)

That's a tough decision! Β It took me a long time to figure out what i wanted and I did a lot of research online. Β But it was worth it since I use it more than my other lenses. Β Best of luck with your search... Β

You probably have more than we do. I only saw them for a few weeks out on the flats... or maybe I don't know where to look. Anyway, thanks soooo much for the super nice comments and for the watch!

I liv in town, and I have a drainage "field" behind my house that's not very big, and they hang out in there XD And on our golf course, it's kinda on the edge of town. They are hilarious!
No problem, your photos are amazing!

Sometimes during autumn! Yep, and once in a while this doe mule deer comes on the golf course! we almost hit her once...oops! but we didn't even connect, she was just spooked XD I'll have to upload a pic of these 4 deer hanging out near my house :3
And we have foxes too, they get annoying.lol!
What kind of camera do you use?

Pinedrop In reply to wyomingcrazy101 [2012-09-23 23:29:18 +0000 UTC]

My neighbors say there are foxes here but I haven't seen them. I have seen coyotes and moose in the winter... and that never gets old. My camera is a Nikon D90 and I really like it.

There are so many great cameras and lenses these days that it's easy to spend a small fortune. I'm hoping one of my trees in back will start growing money.

Warning: Philosophical ideas ahead! Read at your own risk.

I think that a work of art is neither good nor bad, beautiful nor ugly. It only becomes those things when seen through a viewer's eyes. Which means there is no right or wrong, there's just opinion. Which is kind of cool. (Then again, I could be entirely wrong about this and we could simply add it to the mountain of mistaken ideas I've had!)

Hey, nice colors, and the subject is sharp, and it's a pretty picture!

Pinedrop In reply to TerribleTer [2012-06-04 13:09:32 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I cheated a bit on the sharpness. I probably had crisper views of the pronghorn but I really liked the scene in this one.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pinedrop In reply to catch---22 [2012-06-01 12:46:41 +0000 UTC]

They don't get spooked as easily when I'm shooting through the open window of my car (which is pretty much all the time). And I've been lucky to find "critters" not far from the road fairly frequently. I guess if it weren't for the elk refuge road and Antelope Flats Road, I'd be SOL.

catch---22 In reply to Pinedrop [2012-06-01 15:52:54 +0000 UTC]

lol

I caught a herd of elk a few weeks ago and could not get close enough even with my 300.

...and the elk are rare to make an appearance here. :/

Elk are skittish, they clump, and they usually present their back ends even when they're looking at you. I find them most uncooperative.
