The channel mixer is actually the most noisy method mentioned here. I prefer using curves for almost noise-free postprocessing.

u forgot to precise for photoshop users : when you make a "desaturation" then go to edit > fade desaturation and select either color, saturation or hue : the result is more vivid and less noisy sometimes, and you'll keep the light of the original rgb. otherwise, excellent techniques !

Where can I find the burn and dodge tools?!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

vanilla-chan In reply to LaUnderMort [2005-08-03 14:58:11 +0000 UTC]

on the toolbar, theres like a circle with a line coming down it, [link] like that- that is the dodge tool, and if you hold it down the burn tool is under hope that made sense

nice one
i have another tip for creating B&W pictures look realy filmy as you said with deep black
you just have to open 3 hue/saturation, on the firs one you go on HUE +45(depending on picture) than change the blending options to Color on layers toolbar than open another Hue/Saturation and desaturate the image by sliding to -100 Saturation and then press Ok and then copy the first Hue/Saturation (the color one)but change the blending mode to Overlay and then you slide down or up the Opacity till the desired effect.
with most of the pictures work have fun(ahahahah)
