“Dad’s gonna kill us when he finds out we went off without a grown up!”

Kopa II rolled his eyes so intensely that they could have fallen right out of his head. He turned to look back at his brother, with a scowl.

”So what?” he asked, “This is important, Athumani—and it’s cool, so come on!”

”It’s dangerous to be out this early on our own!” Athumani continued, even as he followed his brother, “Anyone could be out here!”

”Than why did you come with me?”

”It’s dangerous-er for you to be alone-alone,” he answered, curtly. “But still, we should just go home while we still can—we’ll meet him later anyway, with Mom and Dad!”

”I want to be the first to meet Uncle Kion,” said Kopa.

”What’s so special about him anyway?”

”He was the last Lion Guard before Aunt Vitani, remember? Kion was awesome, he defeated hyenas and leopards and even evil spirits! Besides, we don’t have any other uncles—well, no other alive uncles.”

”We have Mheetu and Tojo.”

”They’re our great uncles, you should know that!” Kopa said, with another dramatic roll of his eyes. “Besides, their kids are all grown ups—I bet Uncle Kion has cubs our age!”

”You think he’ll bring them?” asked Athumani, unable to hide his excitement.

”Yeah!” grinned Kopa, “I bet he’s got a hundred cubs! He is king of the Tree of Life after all.” Kopa wagged his tail and smirked.

”Ew, don’t be weird!” Athumani groaned.

”Indeed, I don’t think your mother would like to hear you talking that way,” a deep voice boomed, from somewhere above them.

Athumani shrieked, leaping behind his brother with his tail between his legs. Kopa looked up in shock, in time to see a large, golden lion leap off of a high up rock to land in front of them. The lion smiled, his striped mane blowing in the wind.

”And either way, I’m going to have to disappoint you,” he said, “Rani and I haven’t found the time for litters just yet.”

Kopa gasped, a grin spreading across his face as he recognized the lion in front of them.

”Uncle Kion!”

Tiny interaction between Kiara’s sons and their uncle. The Pridelanders don’t see Kion much anymore, with how difficult and long the trek from the Tree of Life to the Pridelands is. Still, he very much wanted to meet his nieces and nephews ever since hearing of their birth, and eventually Kion was able to make it home for a visit <3
