Ah, thanks! Hey, I read in a note on d-ciz-n's journal (Olivia who is researching for her masters thesis on the psychological effects of art) that you are a physicist. That is very interesting. What branch of physics do you specialize in? I am in absolute wonder of astrophysics and own several books from everyone from Neil DeGrasse Tyson to Stephen Hawking (the pictures do help!) to Michio Kaku. I need to schedule some time to actually sit down and read all of them. I have read a couple of Hawkings, and started one of Kaku's, but that is all so far.

Peggy, Sorry to have taken so long to reply to this - it is always a pleasure to find interest in science in liberal artsy people, and physics in particular. I'm what is known as a plasma physicist, the study of the behavior of ionized atoms and their applications. An experimentalist (don't do this hands on any more) I actually did astrophysics and splace physics experiments in the labortory - one of my most interesting set of experiments was to create tiny super-nova explosions (only 1-cm big) using powerful lasers focused to pinhead targets, for example - the mystery to solve was why do supernovas become so mottled and structured (like the crab nebua) when most theory says they sould be smooth. Any way, I'd be happy to 'talk science' with you - maybe through the notes of my email address.
Best,
Barrie

Hey, Barrie. Ah, no problem at all. Plasma physicist...very cool. I may very well note you some time to talk science. All of it just fascinates me...I wish I had a more scientific mind, but it is still interesting to read about all the theories and try to understand.

Just about all children are scientists - they know how to ask questions, and why, and are inquisitive - that is until conventional schooling beats all the curiosity out of most. You do have a scientific mind, and all you need do is ask questions. Also, a good scientist can explain the sense of what they do at any level - kindergarden to graduate school - if they really understand it themselves. If they don't or can't, it is because they really don't have a feel for it (even though they may know the mile-long differential equation), or they are too lazy to think about how to relate the sense of it. So don't be shy or apologetic! Barrie

Hey, Barrie. Well, since you put it that way, I am do have a scientific mind. I do think the best way to really learn something is to try to explain it/teach it to someone else. Makes you stop, think and break it down. Peggy

Thank you! The show I have been working on requires less than 6x6 inches.

Yeah, I have been working very small lately 6x6 and 5x5. I am getting comfortable with the medium...plus, I just love the little squares. I intend to increase the size pretty soon! I am running out of tiny canvases.

Good to hear, sometimes art has to be big to be seen.
