I finally figured out a way to make my hair look like Toph's!Here's how I did it:
Seperate bangs from the back of my hair with the headband Take a medium sized chunk of hair and hold it vertical Backcomb Continue this on all of your hair until it's basically a huge puffy afro Smooth the hair into a sphere, bobby-pinning as necessary to hold it in place Spray it with an aerosol gel or regular hairspray (I used an aerosol gel) Voila, you have Toph hair! 
It's pretty messy because I wasn't sure what I was doing, but I'm sure you'd be able to make it look neater with a little more effort or someone to help you. It's hard to see the back of your head! I had to do it all by feel, just like Toph would...xD;;; And if anyone doesn't already know, I am gonna go to the Sakura Con '08 as Toph in her Fire Nation disguise. ^_^
Oh and also, my hair is short, so if you have long hair you're gonna have to modify this or find another way. Even my hair was a little too long to make it look quite right on the bottom. That's why I had so many bobby pins.

I wiiiiiiiiiiish I could figure out how Toph's hair is done with LONG hair. Not because I want to do it with my hair, but because I have no idea where her hair is going and what direction it is happening in when DRAWING it! Any ideas? ;o;

How long is your hair? I'll need a wig, but I'm not sure about which lenght is better to make Toph's hair like this...

To do it this way, you should have fairly short hair, like at the shoulders or a bit above. But really any length longer than that will work too, you'll just need to do a different way. There are a lot of tutorials out there on how to do it with longer hair, I just did it this way because I wanted to use my actual hair which wasn't long.

I like the entire show. I watched the live action....I thought it was okay. My only downfall in it was that it had ZERO comedy, the scenes didn't fit together at all, and the names were pronounced wrong. -_-

I might dye my hair dark brown and then make my toph cosplay and go as her either for hallowween or momocon or dragon con or something

Well if your hair is as short as it probably is in the back...you might just have to do it slightly differently. Try just teasing the crap out of your hair, using a bunch of a hairspray, and smoothing it into the right shape.

My hair is not very long at all, it ends like at the base of mt neck. If your hair is long an alternative method might work better.

No, I actually have short hair. There's ways to do it with long hair that might be slightly more accurate looking, but it's possible with short hair as well! But if it's too short you wont get enough volume. My hair is just to the back of my neck and layered.
