Description just practice
I participated this group
it's very good and if anyone interests, you should try too .

Note : Good practicing is no tracing from ref. work* and trying to pick the right colour by your eyes not from the photo. Make them as accurate as you can.
Also use simple brush.

Aiya you beat me! I didn't get to work on it because my boyfriend decided to take the whole day off (he was supposed to go to work in the morning so i could draw, instead he stayed home to be with me before i left TuT), so hopefully i can do this tomorrow when i'm in san francisco! You did a fantastic job ahh!

Heyyy Aurora, great study, it's awsome to see you doing these! I'd say, don't be afraid to add the enviro in there too , even if the focus was the armor. For example, the greens that you managed to capture on the armor would make more visual sense if the green of the grass would appear in the study around him.

Oh my god! I hate you but love you at the same time!

The application of colour is amazing! Just look at all those highlights and low key tones! HE HAS A RAINBOW ON HIS RIGHT LEG! Amazing

Aw don't hate me ;_; lol
I tried to use thick brush with no low opacity at all and it's was very hard to apply all the colour.
I hope it's not too much chromatic on that area though > < lol

You did a fantastic job. It's obvious from seeing this, that your observational skills, and understanding of colour are nothing short of amazing. You captured the light successfully.

I think that area is fine, since it is indeed there. Sure its dramatized, but you pulled it off, and it falls in place with the bold underlying style (At least for me). Those bold strokes are so unique and irregular. To me, it is like a transitional form between 'Impressionism' and 'Post-Impressionism'. Hard to describe, especially if you're as inexperienced as me.

I can see how some people might find it odd to see those green hues in the armour, but I quite like the aesthetic. The way you use colour is amazing, and you create a lot of drama and boldness yet maintain a certain sensitivity. Anyway, quenched steel has subtle blue and even yellow tinges so perhaps thats why the green didn't seem that weird. From the thumbnail it looked like moss or something, but upon opening it and seeing as it is such a hard reflective surface, I figured it was from the environment.

Keep up the awesome work!

No probs. ;D
But I am serious, this looks pretty legit. It took me a minute to realize that oh wait, it's not a actual picture of armor.

Wolkenfels [2012-10-05 18:46:13 +0000 UTC]

good one! Very nice values.

What i like in this picture is that it shows how important the surrounding is for painting metal.
all the colors on the armor make only sense because of the environment.
