Description
To run in circles, to chase one's own shadow: a pointless pursuit of a non-existent object, a glimpse of one's self or one's imagination....the snake makes a feeble attempt to chase after it's own tail.

the snake eating its own tail - Ouroboros
if I'm not mistaken, the ouroboros is a symbol that represents the universe (or something like the endless cycle of life).
Buddhist believe that the Wheel of Life is a symbolic representation of 'samsara', the continuous cycle of birth, life, death. One is liberated from this endless cycle of rebirth when Enlightenment is achieved.
It's rather complicated... I've read about it but I still don't understand half of it...
