I thought liberals supported Communism? Not trying to flame here but shouldn't Communism be the one worried about reforming since it doesn't exactly have great PR? ~ C

Yeah I get whiplash when people think capitalism can be reformed. Or, classism can be reformed. Reformed how? Like can one reform racism?
Do these people even know what they're saying? And the "dreads" add a extra ironic effect lol

This one Liberal girl I debated with on YouTube literally thought that Stalin=Soviet Union. All 70+ years of it. Yeah, nevermind the other 7 leaders it had!!

Her exact words: "If you compliment the Soviet Union, then you support Stalin!"Β  Β

At least she wasn't anti-socialist or anti-communist, though. Still, it was very annoying, and it upset me since I continued to get confused as to why she was calling me evil, uneducated, etc. Just because I approved of the Soviet Union's de-stalinization and its citizens.Β

I have a feeling that most Liberals' hearts are in the right place, but they have to get their minds there as well.Β

Typical liberals, always unable to distinguish between capitalism and corporatism.

Too true, liberals just make our country go further into debt.

Can't trust them liberals, making life miserable for the people by adding social security nets and promoting equal opportunity regardless of social or economic class.

Liberals are paedophiles. FACT. I used to be liberal (before i grew out of my childish ideals and grew into a snug i'm-not-poor-for-a-reason outfit.) but as a liberal i noticed i started thinking that all kinds of behaviour was appropriate and before you know it, Brokeback Mountain was acceptable tv and Jerremy Kyle is a bully. My world went topsy-turvy. It took matured cheddar intellectuals like Peter Hitchens of the Daily Mail (and author of The war on drugs - The war we never fought) to get me to pull my head out of my liberal arse (which i took pleasure in shoving things up as a liberal minded free-for-all hippy).

Thumbs up for the small font. I use it religiously. Good thing us communists know better. Though in-practice there's rarely much distinction.

Corporatism is to capitalists what statism is to communists apparently.

What are you exactly implying?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cybernine In reply to Wolfantom [2014-01-15 12:11:22 +0000 UTC]

I'm saying that despite being on opposite ends of the political spectrum, capitalists and communists are similar in the sense that they both abhor oppressive authoritarianism, whether it be by centralised state or corporate monopoly.

"capitalists and communists are similar in the sense that they both abhor oppressive authoritarianism"

Wouldn't go that far son

Wolfantom In reply to Cybernine [2014-01-16 00:16:48 +0000 UTC]

Idealists maybe, but the rich do indeed enjoy staying rich and will often do anything to remain that way, e.g. ruling out competition, employing cheap labour in third world countries, mining the natural resources of other countries, working their employees as hard as they wish before unions step in, and so fourth. It's not a case of ideology, it's a case of every single person's own personal morals and generosity, and come on, history shows just how wonderfully altruistic humans are. Thinking that all capitalists think the same is ridiculous.

πŸ‘: 1 ⏩: 1

Cybernine In reply to Wolfantom [2014-01-16 11:47:01 +0000 UTC]

I'm already aware of how capitalism gives way to fuelling self-interest, leading to greed, which creates corporatism. No ideology is perfect in practice, particularly state communism which has led to mass poverty and a bigger body count than one dares to recount, through state collectivism and coercion, and at no point did I espouse a belief that all capitalists think the same. History might show human altruism, but it also shows how stingy people can be.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Wolfantom In reply to Cybernine [2014-01-17 00:34:20 +0000 UTC]

Well at least you're aware of how easily they can slip into one another. Some free-trade enthusiasts I've met treat corporatism and capitalism as apples and oranges so to speak.

You collectively referred to capitalists with the phrase "in the sense they both abhor oppressive authoritarianism". This implies them being some sort of collective entity that share the same hatred, thus thinking the same, even if it is only in one instance.

Of course.Β We must remember that any unnatural death that occurs under a "Communist" regime is not only attributable to the leaders of the state, but also Communism as an ideology.Β
