Nice chapter again. I like that the start of the chapter was told from Jowan's perspective. I always enjoy it when a writer occasionally switches from the normal pov(s) in the story. It allows the reader to see a different perspective on what is going on. I also liked the discussion on how Circle politics is affecting Duncan's recruitment efforts.

I actually like Jowan. Poor guy wasn't evil, just incredibly misguided and he made the stupidest mistake he could have ever made (which I'm going to touch on later in this story). I have an entire oneshot I did from his perspective, if you're interested. It's also one of the only times I've ever written in first person in my entire life.

Another great installment. Love your look into Jowan's mind, the poor, stupid bastard.
(Sorry if it seems like I'm picking on him, it's just that the universe really seems to hate him, unfortunately).
Also really liked the discussions between the various characters, particualr Varia and Duncan, and Miranda's a neat little side character. Looking forward to the next chapter!

I was trying to think up a name for her, and the movie came on TV and I was like, "Miranda! That works!"

Miranda will be making further appearances in The Templar and His Mage, but I haven't decided her fate, yet... She'll either be one of Uldred's followers, be killed during the uprising at the tower, or have her survive and end up fighting with the mages in the war.

-cue epic dramatic music-
Decisions decisions.
In an original novel I wrote I had two characters in love with the same woman and basically the woman pretty much had to choose between the two. I don't think I knew who she would choose until the last second. Muses can be funny like that.
