*************

A new page! A little change of scene for a moment.

This is the first Wurr page ever where I actually needed a full perspective grid. I have used simple perspective guides before, but this first panel in here needed an actual, full on grid. Ugh. (Also on a technical note, really sorry for breaking the 180 degree rule between panels 3 and 5. Sorry for any confusion there.)

Also I really, really wish I didn't slip too many typos here, I was stupid and saved over the psd-file which sucks butt. I'd have to re-edit and type everything over again to fix anything.

Wurr stuff © me stuff.

I was thinking of getting my ears gauged and I was wondering, what size are these rings? I would love to have spiral earrings like these.

The 180 degree rule is something that is taught mostly in film school but applies to other visual story telling mediums, like comics. Imagine a line of string that connects two characters in a scene; this string is the Axis Line. If the camera stays on one side of the Axis Line, the first character is always Frame Right and the second character is always Frame Left no matter which angle the camera shoots from. This is important because it means that even if you completely change the appearance of a character between shots, the audience still knows who's talking because the Axis Line was established and the first character is always Frame Right and the second character is always Frame Left.

A perspective grid is like a 3D map of a scene. It's easier to show than to explain: raedouglas.files.wordpress.com…

Ohhh I think I get it. It's kinda like a mirror.
If you're looking at an apple on the left and pear on the right, then flip from across the room then the apple would still be on the left and pear on the right to anyone who was looking at them

What's the perspective grid? Haven't heard that one before.

I get the feeling that this will be a rather sad encounter; one group is simply trying to survive, the other is trying to eliminate a perceived threat.

Considering how dogs always seem to go for each others' ears in a fight (at least in my experience), it seems like that would be a bit of a problem.

I never expected to hear the phrase "We are leaving as soon as everyone has their ears pierced!" shouted in such an angry fashion, but here we are.

what's the 180 degree rule?

XenoFrobe In reply to PeanutbutterSandman [2015-05-04 02:03:41 +0000 UTC]

It's a film/comic technique regarding how you frame the sides of a conversation, so that the viewer subconsciously has a better idea of who's where and how they relate to the scene.

Poor torn-ear pup,  one ear's torn and now double piercings in the other? Gotta hurt having to get new piercings with coppers that big ><

Quick question about the copper. it was mentioned that it costs copper to travel, what do you mean by that? like you need to pay tolls if you're going through a territory or something?

In case the dogs who own the land your passing through decide to be jerks, you can buy your hide out. (Usually it's just to show that the travellers could pay if they wanted. To show they are respectful travellers.)

I love the expressions in the last panel! I'm not sure why but him pointing to his poor ripped ear and being like "Actually, can I just get them in one?" made me laugh really hard.

I think he was referencing that the ear was sore, pointing to the reason.  It got ripped open in the fight a while back.

Ouch, man that would hurt. Gotta feel bad for the guy with the torn ear too. At least his double ear piercing on one side will look cool.
