This is beautiful. If you don't mind my asking how did you get all the differentiation in your fabrics? It looks like some were painted after, but others look like they were probably part of the original layer.

First, I will thank you for your comment and .
About painting the fabrics, you are right for the both way.
Some are painted over the first layer, as it is easy to do I call it "positif"; other ones are painted a way I call "negatif" : this way need to paint a first layer, better with effects, or various colours, in pale values and let it well dry. Then, you will " suround" the shapes you want to keep in first layer, with a stronger colour.
I hope this explenation is clear enough. The most dificult is to imagine the shape and avoid to paint over it!
I t is so interresting to do it, you shall try!

That makes perfect sense, I almost wondered if you had maybe used a masking medium like some sort of glue that could be easily rubbed away when desired. It really is a very impressive piece I might have to try that technique myself.

I do not used masking liquid over such small patterns, because it isn't precise enough.
It also rubb away a part of first layer.
But I sometimes use it, especially for herbs or foliage, but on larger painting and over good paper wich keep well colours.
Also, whith masking fluid, edges are too hard, whithout, you can wash a part of them and get the patterns integrate to light or shadow.
In any case, it is worth to try because ,despite of difficulty, it is an other way to paint and enrich your painting.
Good luck!

I have great admiration for people who can do beautiful work with watercolors. This is exquisite! It has so much gentle warmth to it, and lots of wonderful patterns. I love the cat, who looks like she is considering trying to play with the thread.

Congrats on a very well deserved DD!

Any chance you might make prints available?
