Description I desperately needed something cute, so here she is, sharing her sunshine and flowers, should you need them. She has plenty.

Original design here! pallanoph.deviantart.com/art/D… I'll get around to a proper ref of her someday, but for now have this little pencil/digital portrait. She needs to find someone to make her a new backpack, she's not so good at sewing and tends to just use found objects that suit her needs: if it holds seeds/plants/etc, she's going to keep it!

She just really loves plants, big and small. And giving platonic cuddles. And roaming far and wide to check in on all her plant babies.

Caran d'Ache Grafwood pencil sketch with some Photoshop CS6 beneath and on top for color.

Pencil texture will always be my friend, along with some fine tuned Photoshop brushes to match!

I once tried sketching and then coloring digitally... It didn't go well. (Teach me your ways o.o)

Thanks! I'm pretty noobish at digital, I'd admit, but here's roughly how I went about it:

The base drawing is really tonal, I used a lot more greys/darks than the white of the paper: normally I draw really light, and it never looks right when I do it that way. I tint my pencil layer, set the pencil layer to multiply, then throw in color on another layer underneath. Sometimes I want more opaque details, so I draw them in yet another layer on top, usually with a brush that has a grainy chalk or pencil like texture, so it doesn't look too smooth in comparison to the actual pencil drawing. I have a lot of learning to do, but I feel better when I have my pencils as a crutch!

That is actually really smart, I'll try that. ^^ Yes, pencils make a wonderful crutch. Thanks!

very nice anatomy. You got it so smooth though it's hard to accomplish this with an extra pair of legs.

Thank you! The extra legs are definitely making me think more consciously about anatomy in general, and the handlike paws are good practice for me. I've been putting off re-learning humans for so long, so these guys are giving me some courage to make the leap!
