What is the purpose of those holes in the cabin ??? Romanians actually had this kind of stuff back in the day, they had actually somehow fortified villas that had trapezoid holes thru which they would poke assaulters (in case of) with spears or arrows ! :] It was quite effective, ottomans didnt knew what to do so eventually they kind of feared our houses lol

In the Iron Age the windows were carved with axe and the windows were 'the eyes of the house', so that explains the form.

The later era of the Finnish Iron Age was about 800 - 1050 AD. These buildings are based on the findings from that time. The first building was built in 1999 and the rest of them later and I read that there will be more to come in the near future.
