Description I hate Snakes!

This is my entry for the Monthly Challenge | August for Drakehest with my handsome boy Drakehest Import 266 with a cameo of his soon to be bred daughter.

It was fall and the fresh hay fields had grown nicely and were ready for harvest. But with the harvest came it's on issues. To Milintica's master, snakes were a danger to field workers who tended his farms. They would be hiding in the hay fields waiting for plump mice and other pests to be sneaking around. Though they helped keep the pests at bay, when harvest came snakes were just as eager to strike at hands as well as mice.

Milintica hated snakes, they were the bane of his existence. With their cold eyes and fangs filled with venom, he hated them all.  It was  then his master got an idea, while watching his prized stallion attack one of the fanged beasts. The stallion was trained to chase out or kill if need be, any snakes in the fields as the hay cutters worked. He was good at his job, careful to not destroy crop but fierce to the foe.

Time came as Tica grew older, that new crop should be trained and thus Tica was bred and a filly was born and given the name Camelot. It was time for her first harvest.

The filly was far too young to pay too much mind to her father as he led her through fields showing her the work. But he was soon drug into his work and the little filly wondered about. She easily got lost within the tall hay, wandering aimless about until the little filly could make out a clearing, a path the hay cutters had cut long before dividing up the fields. She rushed to it, she was free!

In her mad dash she didn't hear the hiss of the snake, didn't understand it's warning to steer clear until it was much too late. Coiled at the opening of the path it hissed again, the filly frozen in fear. The snake was easily 5ft long, body tense prepared to strike. Camelot gave a fearful squeal as the deadly snake raised itself, fangs barred.

Tica whirled around what seemed miles away from his young filly, looking far and wide. Another terrified cry and he rushed towards the sound. Ears pinned the stallion rushed towards his child's aid.

He reared once he spotted the creature, standing in front of his young Camelot, hooves striking at the air. No fear was in the stallions eyes, only anger the kind you feel when someone you love is in danger. The snake gave another hiss and made a few lunges, before slithering off from whence it came.

It was the only snake Tica allowed to flea into the hay.

Once the situation was less serve the stallion glanced upon his filly, wide eyes starring back at him. With a snort he pushed her back from the direction he had come from. He wouldn't let her out of his sight again.

Haven't written from a horses prospective in a long while. Plus it's late and I'm exhausted sorry if it's terrible
