His face is that of a man grown tired in his profession. As others have said, the detail work is great....but is he missing an arm?

Very nice! Captures the pirate vibe, and the various wood/metal/etc textures very nicely. His attitude's great, and the sense of ships in battle just adds to that. My only real nitpick is that it looks like the sun's shining on him, but you've got rain in the background.

Great detail in this! The more you look, the more you see!! Great scene with the other ship in the background & the rough sea. Very good use of colour & light, love his weathered face! An old sea dog in his element! But what's he thinking? He looks to be thinking hard on something? The prize he's chasing?
