Description

I decided to recreate this piece:

Interestingly, this was my first netnavi to robot master piece, and while I like his previous design, I feel like his new one does well as well. I decided to change a few things but still keep it faithful. In any case, happy Juniverse to you all!

Also, I did this piece entirely because told me about Juniverse and I decided to join the fun.

Really interesting and cute! I think the design is even better than some Megaman's bosses. With the planet idea, it should be a final boss, maybe. Now, the suggestions... Like JustALittleAmerican said, the lineart would be better, but in my opinion it's because of the lack of difference in the pressure. Look, the lineart is more interesting if you draw the lines with different thickness. I suggest that you take your time to study others arts (cartoon and anime style, precisely) seeing these differences in size of the line. Second suggestion: Try to avoid colors that are too satured. Pick colors more mixed, like more close to gray or soft colors or others. Saturaded colors tend to be unpleasant to see. Oh, talking about the old version now, it's not bad, I think it's cute too. For some reason I found the "ears" at the helmet more cute at the old version. Besides, the rest really has improved a lot in this new version. It's more detailed, more volumed, it's easier to imagine this robot in 3D! you could try to make some animations or draw more of this robot moves in the future. Reading the notes for attacks in the old version, I really wanted to see this animated. I noticed now that the earth lacks details. It's too pointy and geometric for something like that.

Keep the good work ;D

Thank you! I appreciate the time you took to write this critique. I agree with a lot of your points. I was trying to go with some aesthetic with the geometric patterns on the Earth body, but it couldn't quite turn out the way I had envisioned. In addition, how would you recommend I fix the line thickness. Where do you think I should make it thicker or thinner? I'll be sure to look at what you mean by this. Thank you for this critique and the kind words in it!

I'm glad to be useful. And it's normal in the beginning that the illustrations don't turn as we meant it. As you practice, you'll get a lot better in this. ^^
And, answering: In the lineart curves, precisely. The line thickness at the curves will make your illustration more realistic, with more volume.  Look at this drawing for example:

The line art seems just a little too wablely,
but I've been won over by your design.

Line art was never my strong suit. I wanted to make it look hand-drawn but not rough.

I noticed that you have some detail work going on and i like the shading, but there appears to be a lack of detail on the earth but unless that is your style, i dont mind. Still quite impressive.

Admittedly, I wanted to keep the Earth part of his body fitting with the rest of his design and honestly wasn't sure how to do it.
