Half a homage to 's old AU , half me just wanting to take the concept of a "boyfriend swap" for a spin. Admittedly, it's mostly just because I want to see alicorn Flash, as the idea quickly falls apart when you realize it just assumes the Mane 6 have boyfriends to swap with in the first place. Stallion content is always a struggle, hah.

Since I loath swap AUs where nothing really changes, I've thought up some fun ways this universe deviates from the Equestria we know.

Prince Sombra
One half of the Original King of Equestria. Technically still an alicorn, but his other half possesses his wings. His "royal duty" would be illuminating the night sky with his auroras.

Stricter and more distant as a mentor than Celestia is, but is slowly (like over the course of a thousand years) learning to be more open. He's the Original King's sense of duty made manifest, so the protection of Equestria is his number one priority. Creating more protectors (Shining Armor and Flash Sentry) lets him start to relax.

Used the Crystal Heart to seal his other half deep beneath the ice.

Prince Flash Sentry
Flash would still have started off as a pegasus, and probably thought Sombra was just training him to become the next captain of the royal guard. When it comes to it, Sombra would at least give Flash the option to decline ascension in the astral plane, and Flash would accept the burden of protecting all of Equestria because he's such a boyscout.

Would have his goofy ahh mullet before ascension. Cut his mane for the ceremony and decided to keep it that way.

His draconic companion is Ember! I can see Flash saving her egg as a colt, and that catching Sombra's attention.
