Sage was once a noble from Unicornia, and one of Lady Rabia's most devoted followers, and as such didn't hesitate for a moment to join her once they separated from the unified tribes. He's also Stellar's great great great great grandpa.

While average on the field of sorcery, Sage's skill when it came to alchemy and potion-making was without equal. His concotions never failed to awe the courts and quickly earned him the title of royal alchemist. If you had an illness that Sage couldn't cure, you might as well be already dead. After joining Rabia's expedition, most of his efforts went on making cold-resistance potions and remedies for frostbite.
The only times he was spotted outside of his laboratory were when he was directly requested to attend the ocassional ball or ceremony, invited by somepony of the royal family or Lady Rabia.
As to be expected, he feels little more than comtempt for the "lesser tribes", as he calls them. The same can be said for any unicorn that dared to sympathize with them.
