yay! i finsihed it....i am always upset with the way i do backgrounds though...maybe because i dunno how to make them, lol!!! anyways!! is having a contest and i decided to make her cute character Meriel! ^_^ i like this character a lot because she's not overly complicated like most people's characters. very simplistic ^_^ but i had fun drawing this and i really like the way her face came out. hope you enjoy it everyone!copyright of meriel goes to

Wow...that looks like the winning piece already! Oops, I can't be the judge...-.- I am utterly speechless looking at this drawing. I believe it's best drawn thing I've seen in such a long while! Both the coloring and lineart reflect much skills and effort. The background looks just fantasic. I love this pic and I'm definitely faving!

Since you did this so well, I hope you won't mind me asking you a few questions about it. I wanna know how long it took you to do this and what you colored it on. I'm a deviant looking for helpful advice so I can improve my own art ^^

i'd love to help ^_^ this actually took me about 2 1/2 hours to color....i'm getting faster! the outlines i made in illustrator (trust me....it helps to do it in there) and i colored her in photoshop! but if you have any questions i try to help! just let me know

Thank you so very much ^^! I find Illustrator insanely difficult to use. Do you use the pen tool or something? I did 2 drawings from illustrator and I gave up

yeah i use the pen tool...you can also just use the brush if you want. i used to hate the program with a passion but now that i am taking a class in it it is slowly warming up to me

im jsut saying in my opinion as it stands i woudl vote for you because yorus has the best emotion. I jsut finished coloring mine, but it still doesnt have the same emotional bonus yours has

aww don't say that. you have a fabulous sense of light direction! i mean in your picture it has such a powerful light source and you have the shading correctly! that is sooo hard to do! seriously i struggle with it all the time. i always just want to throw in a shadow or a highlight in because it would look good.

It depends on what you're definition of "nice" is? I'm just trying to make it thru this new near...and that day only makes it harder. Then again there are a lot of us out there that feel this way I guess?

Wasn't "grumpy" more or less. Was just...in an altered state, I guess the best way to deal with it is to just disconnect it. I still smiled and held the door for people and such--it just disheartened me seeing all the pairs running around. Heh

Yeah I used colored pencils and crayons. I don't have any computer programs to use but I like hand drawing anyways so I don't mind.

holy crap i love using crayons!!! aren't they the best? they start you out with those things for a reason i swear, lol! yeah i'm a loser but that's ok. and there is nothing wrong with traditional art! proves you have more talent

I do prefer traditional art. I think they start you out with crayons though cause it's easiets. Colored pencils will break on you and and marker will end up all over your face. Crayons are a nice balance.
