Description As short set of photographs of trees and woodland found near the village of Auchencairn, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.

This image is a 12 shot (2*6) pano of part of the the beautiful Loch Stroan on the Raiders' Road near Mossdale. Lightroom Photo Merge was used to composite the individual shots. Note also that the sky in the right hand quadrant is much darker than the rest of the sky. This has arisen from using a polarising filter - quite a neat effect.

Being such a large file panorama this image bears zooming in for detail.

Very nice/pretty capture! And I see what you mean about the sky. Although, that can happen naturally too. I've seen the sky here on numerous occasions, dark looking one way down the street, and lighter in the other direction. ^^Β Β  What beautiful surroundings! Lucky you David,Β being in the midst of it all. !

Yep, skies can be odd, Linda. This is definitely caused by the polarising filter taking out the polarised light from the sky, and hence making it darker. The effect is highly directional, depending on the height of the Sun and the angle it makes with the lens. I must tell you about Haidinger's brushes one day. Stroan Loch is about 1/2 hour from the cottage and is one of my favourite places. It is stunningly beautiful, even in the rain.

Many Thanks

David
