Description A six  vertical shot panorama of the Big Water of Fleet River looking upstream. Full zoom view recommended.

Fleet on FootWe had one most beautiful day on our recent trip to my cottage in Scotland and we took the opportunity to walk along by the Big Water of Fleet, the river that rises at Loch Grannoch by Cairnsmore of Fleet and flows down through the picturesque town of Gatehouse to the sea. I've posted shots from around Gatehouse and from along the Big Water of Fleet before, but I think some more are in order. I find it a magical walk on a beautiful day.
This is the view upstream a few miles from the source. I've constructed a seven shot pano using the Microsoft Image Compositor Editor, so there is plenty of detail if you zoom in. The Sun, still pretty low in the sky, is more or less behind me. The second shot is taken from the same spot, but looking downstream. The Sun is roughly behind the tree on the right. Note the difference in colour balance between the two shots.

Yes, Steven, the water is cold, but not freezing. People used to bathe in the Pool of Ness, perhaps still do!

Thank you very much, Linda. Even for people who are uncomfortable with wide open spaces, this part of the walk should be a treat. The sounds of the water, the birds, the leaves and the wind add to the magic.

Glad you like it.

Thank you, Wiebe. This is the part of the river that most people remember. You can get right down into the water!
