Description A Day in the Life...Part 2Previously: On a cold and dank morning at Phinda Vlei Reserve we had come across the Northern Pride of lions strolling through the bush.Β A Day in the Life... Part 1Β Two young males had separated from the pride, and, having killed a mongoose for fun, had become lost while the rest of the pride moved on to seek a sheltered area to sleep away the day. This group had settled down and had dozed off when one of the three remaining young lions suddenly awoke causing his two siblings and the alpha female to also wake up. Something was remiss in the bush, and, at the end of Part 1, this young male decides to investigate, first image below.

Very lucky to be there for this shot - not often that you see this. Also, see that the lion's nose is mottled - that seems odd as well.

Many Thanks

So fantastic to get to see inside this magnificent creature's mouth like this! Also his nose. (comical how the one on the right is looking at him. ^^

You got the point about the one on the right, Linda - he's wondering what is going on.

Many Thanks for this and all the other comments.

Kind of makes one think of him as the dentist, having just told his patient to "open wide".

You're very welcome David, my pleasure truly. !! !

Many thanks, Bob. Yes the zoom/extender combo worked very well indeed. I had my 400 mm lens with me, but for back of the vehicle work, it was less reliable. You rely need a bean bag rest for 400 mm work. I've presented these shots as close to out-of-the-camera as possible, but I might work up a few with slightly more contrast and colour. But, grey days give greyish outcomes.

Cheers
