Yep - these lenses are really good, Linda. The state of the tree, with few leaves left, is just what you want photographically.
Many thanks.

Yes - a touch of eerieness - you get that feeling on grey days around Scottish lochs, especially in the wild places. It is also to do with the sounds and the swirling wind as well as the isolation. I think the phrase that is used is the lochs and hills are a "brooding presence".

I really love the drama of Black and White photos. I grew up with them too. There is something to be said for them, as there are for Black and White movies as well.

The debate continues, Lea, monochrome versus colour! I work in both colour and monochrome, but enjoy the black and white that bit more. If colour is important to or is the theme of the shot, then colour it is, but for me colour can be a distraction, especially on drab days like this one.
Many thanks

I am sure that debate will never end. What I do believe is that it is more of a challenge to work with Black and white and monochrome than color. You are right. Color can be distracting. I do find that I do really love HDR photos because they have such a wonderful depth of color saturation. I really love saturated colors in most of my fractals.
You are always welcome!

Good point about fractals and colour, Lea. Fractals demand colour and you can control the output - nature you have to accept the colour as seen. Interesting what you say about saturation. I wonder sometimes if our monitors are not to blame for some colours looking a bit wan.

On the monitor thing, I have wondered that also. It is true about nature. Part of why I really like HDR as well.

I have a semi-professional monitor, Lea, and I use a "spyder" calibration device, but I am not convinced that colour on screen is correct. Not helped by the fact that I am partially colour blind!

Okay, I don't even know what that is...
The monitor thing, I mean. Being color blind would make it more of a challenge.

Okavanga In reply to Leanndra51 [2019-11-23 12:04:18 +0000 UTC]
A "spyder" is the trade name for a device that you hang over the monitor and it tests all the colours to see if they are true. If not, the associated software implements a correction to the way the colours are displayed. Most high end monitors that are used professionally need to have such corrections done on a regular basis - eg if you are selling fashion goods you run the risk of returns if the colours are not correct.

That makes sense to me! I had never heard of them before. Very cool. Bet those monitors are pretty spendy though!

This os the website, Lea. Gives you a better idea,

The professional level monitors are expensive, but I go for one level down - sort of pro-am level. Currently, the costs have come down and you get more for your money. I think this is because TFT technology has matured and colour stability issues have been solved.
Cheers

And I think, it helps our bodies to re-charge. I bunk the gym every now and then and when I visit again - after giving myself a break, I find some members/friends asking me where had I been and I come up with a very simple answer - "I was just enjoying the sweetness of laziness"! That simple. And sometimes my mind comes up with some innovative ideas and gives me other answers - such as; "When I was a boy, I was always doing things on orders and supervision of elders and could not indulge in skipping those chores I did not enjoy doing. I did not even 'bunk' school. Then now is my time to 'bunk' gym and feel good about it! All is LAZINESS! Sweet! (sometimes)!!

Most of the leaves are shed now, M, so we get the full fractal spread of the boughs, branches and twigs appearing - wonderful. Also managed to get almost the whole tree as a silhouette.
Many Thanks.
