Description The Orion spacecraft docks at the International Space Station, what was once to be its first destination.  Today she's a Beyond-Earth only craft, but I thought I'd give us a look at how she would have looked visiting the station.

NASA has said that Orion will dock at the ISS when needed as long as it is still in service.

It was originally a baseline mission in 2011, but it disappeared around 2013.  And without a major directive from Congress or the President, theres no way to restore it as a mission.

Its a real shame too.  Had it not been coupled to Ares 1, if NASA had allowed Delta IV and Atlas V to be considered for LEO Orion, we might've been flying Orion to the ISS today.  Getting ready to hand-off LEO to commercial crew in preparation for Lunar missions.  But thats about 8 years of compromises and kicking the can down the road to make way for Ares 1 that all was pointless in the end.  Original-land-landing-reusable Orion wouldn't have any mass issues with SLS the way it was constantly fighting with the Ares 1 shortcomings.

Who knows under Trump that outcome might change.
