About time I did another one of these, though I'm getting towards the end of things I can talk about actually, we're nearing a complete guide soon, OH BOY!!

flashbacks this time, hope the degrees of involvement and importance weighing make sense, I wanted to convey flashbacks are helpful but are easy to overuse and need to have sufficient purpose.

sorry for some of the corny stuff like the Frosted Flakes stuff, Β it seems corny to me, but not sure what to replace it with, and it's too stiff without it, so I left it in.

I stayed up later than I should have to finish this, I just wanted to finish this today....going to bed now, night

I just read an article about flashbacks and when to use them in stories, and it mentioned the bit about flashbacks preventing forward motion in the story. I was going to talk about that in the comments here if you didn't say it, but you already covered that, so nice job

Would it be strange to use a flashback as a long-term framing device?

I made some major changes to my party half way through the adventure, and i thought that filling in members that missed most of the adventure would be a good place to start for me. I think i'd also be able to settle into writing comics a bit easier if i did have a narrator for the first major chunk of the story.

((and of course the Frosted flakes stuff is corny. They don't make Frosted flakes out of wheat, so what did you expect? In all seriousness, i found it cute.))

not necessarily, but note flashback can be a touchy route and some Β get bothered simply by the notion of flashback after a while. it'd take some finesse and balance.

heh, thanks.

Ah, yes. I was looking forward to when the next one of these came out. I really love reading guides. This one was really helpful! I really like how you went into all the different types of flashbacks and their benefits and problems. Thanks for the guide!

oh cool, a few more and I think the set will be complete unless there's more topics people recommend for me. glad you think so, and none of those terms or types of flashbacks are proper technical terms or anything, it's just how I define them to help guage how much I need to invest. no problem

Yep. Gotta know when to use that flashback and how big of a flashback is needed. Quickly giving insight into multiple characters? Mention works best. Need to explain some sort of tramatizing event? I believe Show works best unless all it needs is a smaller mention for whatever reason (too minor of a character or the issue doesn't occur enough). I know I put in a small set of flashback(s) to give quick insight into each character. It was more Mention as each character (except one or two) hasn't had a chance to really do anything in the comic.

that's ok, it's a huge commitment so take your time and decide if you really want to do one or it'd be too much to handle.

you're welcome, glad you think so.
