In 1502 A.D, Kuaka was once a human woman in the Far East as a maiden. She has been seeking a suiter to fulfill her family clan's marriage to another clan's prince, but has been looked upon as amateur. One day, she discovered a pair of golden earrings buried in a cavern and pierced them to her ears. With these on, she could participate in a marriage ceremony to earn herself a suiter. Little does she realize that these were made by a demonic force that can turn anyone into djinn in mere hours, days even. Even if she did, it was already too late. Kuaka has become a genie.

For many years, she has been used by several masters for their wishes and ends up going back to her lamp (and to magically be chained to it so she could not escape). Because of this, she fell into loneliness and resentment. All the way from Japan to China to India and to Arabia.

One day, a young mad took Kuaka as his personal genie and doesn't have the same selfish motives as her past masters. The Warrior wanted to get to know her and was more a romantic relationship; going as far as getting her new clothes to better suit her stay in Arabia.

After a one-night stand in a dark desert night, Kuaka became pregnant and had a child; a Half-Genie baby girl. This was beyond happiness for her as she and The Warrior stayed together instead of making wishes like the selfish master she had before him.

However, this happiness was not to last. A powerful entity named Pirate Master has set his eyes to turn the world into an abode of darkness and every genie of the planet has been called upon to battle him. Kuaka and The Warrior sought out to find someone who can look after her Half-Genie daughter. Before Kuaka could join the fight against Pirate Master, she handed her daughter over to Mimic to look after her. She and all the genies sacrificed themselves to seal Pirate Master in a tomb where he cannot rise from his grave. From this point, Kuaka and her genie comrades have stayed in the Genie Realm where they cannot be seen.

Before Shantae's involvement with the Mortal Brothers MMXIX tournament, a former Original Eight Champion named Pikachu occasionally visits Kuaka and her genie friends and warns them of a tournament that could crush Earthrealm and its people. She tells Pikachu that Shantae (being a guardian of Scuttle Town and a worthy fighter to his cause to defending Earthrealm) should participate to free Earthrealm from Bowser's grasp.

Just after Pikachu last leave from the Genie Realm, a dangerous skakdi named Vezon invades both the Genie Realm and Scuttle Town, and even captured a good chunk of genies still trapped in their lamps, including Kuaka herself. Vezon eventually got noticed by Shantae as he was spreading havoc to Scuttle Town, teleporting himself to the NetherRealm (with Shantae chasing after him). In the midst of the chase, Vezon got a mysterious katana blade with him and Shantae caught up with the skakdi.

Immediately, Vezon used his fusion spear to fuse her mother AND half genie magic into the katana sword with imprinted flames and engraved the initials of her name on the sword itself. Vezon left Kuaka as a sword next to the distraught Shantae (becoming human the second time).
