I just got a new CD today, Black Veil Brides, and there is a song called Wretched and Devine. Your picture suits the song perfectly.

how do you give it that oil painted look? D:
is it just the brushes you use or do you use a texture/stock overlay?
im at such a loss at how to achieve such a look

I use regular brushes along with painterly brushes I create. A really useful tool is slight texture overlays (though I don't use them with high opacity), and the sharpen tool. Sharpen just a tad and it will make your brush strokes pop a little.

Isn't that kanji actually "disaster"? Read as Hanzi though, it means "miserable", give or take. I imagine that's what you were going for.

I googled for the word 'wretched', but this kanji also meant 'disaster.' So the kanji may mean more than just one word.
