Description Inspired by and create for #WingIt-Stock contest.

This piece is an attempt at moving away from my usual imagery …

With this one I am trying for a vision with no set story, the goal was to arouse an emotion … a feeling; something that spoke to the viewer but did not define what they should feel.

After some thought I went back and reworked this: If you would like to view the other version you can find it here:

The Second Covenant

Or a comparison version in my scraps here:

The-Covenant-Comparative

The wings and texture:

From the wonderful stock by ~chulii-stock (found here [link] and through :devwingit-stock)

The Angel

From an incredible model at ~mondkalbstock and can be found here [link] !

THANK YOU SO MUCH … your work, generosity and inspiration; they are truly appreciated!

The eye was created from reading a bunch of tutorials; as a base I used

~Sinned-angel-stock Eyez [link]

The moon and sky is my own image based on a photo taken in Merida, Mexico.

I faved this because of:
* The composition
* Your attention to detail
* An original wing design
* Unusual texture on the angel

I prefer this one, with the tall wings, so I might crop it to improve the composition. But definitely I prefer this one. I really like it BTW I like the colours too.

Thank you ... it has been very interesting to hear what different people like and think. I am curious about how you would crop it?

louly In reply to NTGreen [2010-08-10 21:25:49 +0000 UTC]

Well, what makes it nice is the range of colours in the background and the planet, so you can't exactly crop it. But I think it might be stronger if it was narrower, while keeping all the colours in the background.

I'll give that a whirl just to see what happens ... square images are hard!

Actually, I have a request of you on this one ... I have a different version of it and IF you have time (and only if you are not busy) I wouldn't mind getting some feedback. Let me know and I will put it up on my other site or in scraps or something ... as I said though it is not a panic or crucial.

Later

Sorry it took so long ... sleep and work ... they both get in the way sometimes

Here is the [link] to my the other image (and comparison images)... the more I look at it the more I think it is better???

Let me know what you think, no panic ... and you don't have to be gentle ... I really appreciate honest critiques, as long as they are from someone I respect as an artist

SilEnigmaArts In reply to NTGreen [2010-07-11 10:31:01 +0000 UTC]

I like both of them BUT....I think I am your side with regard to the 2nd one. I think I might actually like that one a tad better. Why ......well.....(apart from the fact that I would still lighten and colour the candle same as 1st piece) I like her wings being shorter and her body blended away without a defining cut off point. I also like her pose where she is looking downward where she seems to me to have a more reverent expression on her face giving the aura (for lack of a better word) that she is in deep respect for this covenant ....submissive to it as opposed to piece #1 where she has an almost defiant attitude toward it.....if that makes sense.

Soooooo if its up to you ...both are good. Why dont you put them side by side and let your watchers choose. I am sure everyone will have differing opinions of them both and you will probably find that both are as popular as each other. Its personal preference as to how YOU the artist choose to present the piece. It has to be what YOU are happy with and as you well know....the artist is always their own worst critic

NTGreen In reply to SilEnigmaArts [2010-07-12 19:11:18 +0000 UTC]

Great comments; I hadn't thought about the title and the way she has a more reverent pose in the 2nd piece but that is probably why I prefer it ... it has a gentler feel somehow.

I wondered about the candle ... and agree ... it does look better the same colour as the 1st ... I also think your idea to put them both up is great ... I will see what happens.

We (artists) certainly are our own worst critics... I usually like a piece until it's finished and then, well, I start finding the problems with it! I guess that is what drives us on to the next piece!

Thank you so much for your help, it was truly appreciated and valued!

SilEnigmaArts In reply to NTGreen [2010-07-13 09:20:30 +0000 UTC]

Well I see you have just posted the 2nd piece ....I think you might find that both are equally as popular because both are unique in how they come across.

NTGreen In reply to SilEnigmaArts [2010-07-13 21:38:47 +0000 UTC]

Yeah ... me thinks you are right ... my sister came by and I was sure she would like the 2nd one but she actually preferred the 1st ... who knew? It is an interesting study though!

Back with a bang! Three pieces in just over a week ... an "embarrassment of art" ... sort of like a "murder of crows" or a "flock of seagulls"

Hope all is well! It's hot hear, how is your "winter" ... quiet and peaceful for you, I hope
