Description Part 12 of Tolkienverse meets Potterverse, features Sibyll Trelawney (who belongs to J.K.Rowling), and Beren, Huan and Carcharoth (who belong to J.R.R. Tolkien).

For those infamiliar with either -verse -
- Trelawney is a batty Divination teacher who enjoys predicting death and seeing the Grim - hellhound and omen of death- in tea leaves.
- Carcharoth is a huge evil wolf from The Silmarillion, bred by Morgoth the dark lord in Angband (translated as Hells of Iron, which makes Carcharoth a true hellhound ); he kills both of the following-
- Beren, a Man from the Silmarillion who married LΓΊthien the elf and lost a hand to the aforementioned evil wolf,
- and Huan, a large wolfhound, companion of Beren and LΓΊthien, who kills Carcharoth and is killed by him. Sad story.

They were attacked by Carcharoth in a forest, hence the setting. Carcharoth is supposed to be lurking behind a thicket in this picture, watching the unsuspecting company.

Yup, he's had his share of them.

Trelawney should rather meet Turin and foretell him something.

Seeing what happened to Brandir, I'm not sure I'd like to imagine the outcome.

Why exactly are they not taking the grim[heh] situation seriously ? Is it because it's too obvious, or something else?

I think Huan and Beren, like the others, consider Sybill a fraud... to their detriment.

Great idea!

It would be Trelawney's third true (and important!) phropecy Neither Beren nor Huan seem to be thrilled by hearing those words and they should be!

Ah, priceless! Huan looks like he's about to roll his eyes, and I think Beren wants to get far, far away. I'll bet Trelawny would have a FIELD DAY if she ever met the Feanorians! Especially Maedhros - she'd go on and on about his losses, his tragic life, and then how he would ultimately die a horrible painful death. Actually, the fate of the Noldor would probably excite her so much that she'd spontaneously combust. Great picture!

Trelawney can be proud of herself at least now her 'Grim' is real. But do they really drinking tea? As I remember from HP books Trelawney sometimes prefered alcohol.
Beren's expression is amazing as the whole picture!
Oh! Forget to say: Huan is imposibly cool!

noleme In reply to airysilvertail [2011-08-18 07:36:02 +0000 UTC]

No sherry for Trelawney in Doriath, so she'll have to make do with the tea. Beren has a goblet of wine, actually, so you're right, they're not both drinking tea.
Thanks for praising Beren's expression! I'm glad people like the others (meaning other characters than Huan) as well.

Name one person who does want to be near Trelawney. I think she would drive Morgoth himself crazy. She's like a psychiatrist saying "You must have had a VERY unhappy childhood" in that patronizing tone that makes you wanna kill him.

noleme In reply to Anamia [2011-08-16 21:02:09 +0000 UTC]

I can so hear her telling Morgoth "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches" concerning the birth of EΓ€rendil. And of course, Morgoth's desire to find the hidden city and destroy it is then understandable.
