A little something for the Puerto Rican day parade. I don't know if it was held today but I saw a lot of people with their flags out and stuff. I really liked how the flag halter top came out. It was kind of hard drawing the star by free-hand. I suck at drawing stars.
Positioning the right hand was extremely difficult. I was so satisfied with how the arm was extended that I didn't want to change it...but placing the hand in a not-so-awkward position was a problem. So you don't have to tell me if the hand looks funny. If anything else looks funny...you don't have to tell me...I already know my errors but couldn't take it away because I realized them only after I inked in the drawing. The text was a small problem. I believe the older Photoshop versions allowed one to color the text but the new one was a pain in the ass. I guess I had to "change layers" to color the text. I never used layers before but I see that now I have to learn just to do a simple task. Damn you layers.Almost 2+ hours.

I think this is adorable! I saw the comments above, hands can be a bitch at times, but I think these are very good! And possitioning them to be gripping something as small as a glasses frame is downright a pain [link] I draw girls with glasses often so it comes a little easier over the years. This character kinda reminds me of my little Puerto Rican character Tina [link] Hope to see more of her

If you mean the hand holding the sunglasses it looks a little awkward. Believe me though I understand how hard it is to get positioning right. A commissions I'm working on now I must have redrawn the hands several times a piece..x.x;;

I have paper I'm using right now that actually does that...It's such poor quality that even too many layers of colored pencil in one area will end up tearing the layers of paper off.

Oh, man. I've been there but I wasn't coloring, I was just plain erasing. Stupid paper ripped and I had to use a new one. Thank goodness I didn't complete the drawing or I would have been really pissed.

It tears when I erase too. Not all the way through but the paper starts getting rubbed away little by little. My newest Sheridan picture there are spots that were wearing away from erasing too much. I transferred it to another piece of paper in the sketch book to color it without having to worry about ruining the sketch but even starting fresh on another piece was no good. It was in the same art pad, I just wasn't expecting it to wear away from too much coloring.
it's nice for plain sketches though. It's actually good paper to use when I want to CG something in photoshop. I place tracing paper over the image, inking on the tracing paper and then put it in the scanner and scan the traced, inked image. The paper isn't dirty, the lines come out clean, and it's like using a light table without the light.

Wow. I just ink over the original(which is a bi*** sometimes because I have this bad habit of adding in things while I'm inking and if I make a mistake its too late to turn back) and scan it onto my computer. Then convert it into JPEG and start coloring. Sometimes I add things, sometimes I don't. It depends on how imaginitive I get that day. I really need a new scanner though. I mean, it scans...but I can't print. It's one of those 3-in-1 contraptions. My scanner is over 4 years old. Who knows when it's going to explode.
Oh, that's cool. Yeah, it took me awhile to ink in an artwork properly. I use two different types of pens when I ink in: a fine and extra fine pilot pen. The fine is for inking the outline of the entire image then I use the extra fine to ink in the really small details. It's tedious work, but it comes out great in the end.

Well I only started this tracing paper ordeal because of the crappy paper. Only downfall is everything needs to be CG's because transferring it to a new sheet of paper the details get lost or slightly moved from their original locations. It's what happened to my new Sheridan pic in the colored version. It's been deleted now but the sketch is still up. :3
When I have real sketching pads to draw in, not this crap from Zainy Brainy my mom brought home for me, I ink directly onto the original. I'm almost done with these crappy sketch pads now so once they're used up I won't have to worry about them anymore.
As for a good eraser..I have a pentel refillable eraser. It's like the length of a mechanical pencil and when you run out you just buy refills. They're very decent erasers. I have a regular rectangle shaped eraser I use to erase tiny details using the corners of it. I also have a battery operated eraser with smaller refills. I generally just use my pentel though. I've been using them forever and don't really use anything else. Kneaded erasers are good for working on pics you shade with graphite or charcoal.

Haha. Yeah. I don't use sketch pads anymore. I should. I still have some more paper left from my old sketch pad. There are some drawings in there but they're not worth putting up on deviant art. Haha. I use Magic Rub eraser and it is, by far, the best eraser I ever had. The pentel refillable erasers are what I'm using for as replacements but I really prefer the Magic Rub. When I erase, it erases everything...there's no faded pencil marks left behind.

I press so hard sometimes or even just from going over certain areas so much the paper just gets indented. The Pentel erasers work fine for me. I'm sure you can get refills from some other company that fit in the holder that are better quality. But either way if you want the magic Rub eraser again you'll have to go to Ragshop or an art store or something.

Oh, that sucks. No, I can just go to staples...but I need to be driven there...it's kind of far from my house but if I go by car, I'll be there in no time...like a 15 minute car ride. Ahhh. Whatever. As long as I have a decent eraser, I'm good.

Aww, thank you. Truthfully, I think my eyes are failing me or something because sometimes I think something looks good and then the next moment I think it looks horrible. Ah...maybe its the lack of light in my room. Well, enough rambling. Thank you very much.

Oh, it's not just your eyes, trust me. xD I have that same fix--sometimes I'm so happy with my picture, and then I put it away for a spell, and come back and it looks terrible. -_-
