Description Watercorlor 2015, At Tvestjärten (Earwig Island), outside Gullholmen, Sweden.
This is painted from a visit at my friend's house in late October last year. He lives in the white house depicted in the center of the painting. It was a wonderful trip! We defied the weather and went out with his boat in the archipelago to pinpoint some nice places which we plan to visit this summer to paint. We both love to paint in watercolors and we spent two days painting and eating great food (freshly caught lobster). It was a weekend to remember and I hope to visit again this summer!
Hope you like it! I will post another painting from this trip soon!

Hoh, this looks like it could be close to my hometown Öregrund. You've really captured the right colors, it looks so Scandinavian!  *Thinking of home*

Hey, how nice to meet someone from Sweden!! Denna målning föreställer min väns hus och ligger på den lilla ön Tvestjärten utanför Gullholmen. Jag har inte varit i Öregrund, men det finns säkert mycket likheter! Tack så mycket för din fina kommentar!

Hey, thanks! This is a bit more subtile/moderate in the coloring than I usually paint. It was that kind of weather that day. I wanted to capture the peacefulness and I'm happy you feel this. This place is really special and it was a really nice day painting together with my friend. Thanks!

Great landscape painting...
Just one question. Was it beginning to get cloudy and stormy? I see you wrote "We defied the weather", but...
Because I get the impression of the dark tone of the blue color and the lines created in the sea that it's headed towards a storm
I can totally feel the unpleasant weather at the sea...the waves crushing *so scary*
The shadows on the right hills are also amazing.

Your adventure sounds like a lot of fun

Thanks a lot for your kind comment!  Yes, it was beginning to get stormy after lunch (when we decided to take the boat trip). It was a typical Swedish October storm, meaning lots of rain and wind! Later during night the wind was shaking my friends house, while we were inside painting. It was a great evening! The next day the storm had gone away and it was a wonderful October light over the islands. I will post a painting from that morning later today.
I'm glad could see the storm coming in the painting! It's funny that you mention the shadows on the right hills, because I'm really happy with those too! Have a great week!

Thank you for explaining it
The shadows on the hill give that vibe of dark, giant, gloomy clouds covering the whole area.
Sometimes it's funny to see in nature that one side is sunny and the other where the clouds gather the area beneath is dark and in shadows. Like it's getting eaten from the darkness.

You really captured that stormy, windy feeling of the landscape. The dark blue color and the strokes in the water made it look realistic.

Hey, it's my pleasure! I love to reflect on my paintings. They always tell me stories when I create them and I love to hear watcher's comments and reflections about them, because it makes the paintings come to life!! Just like you I'm often fascinated about how the light shifts between light and shadows and that is so difficult to capture in a painting. Thank you so much for your nice words!
