"Siamun" is some weird romanization that the people behind the Viz manga thought up. I believe that even in the English anime, his name is "Shimon."

I beg to differ. My mangas are in English and his name was spelt "Siamun" - Mine were printed by Shonen Jump (the same as the popular magazine.)

Yes, I know that, but "Siamun" is one of those oddity romanizations that was just a result of the editor trying to make something sound more foreign. The anime went with "Shimon" and the basis behind the name comes from an editor at Shueisha at the time, "Shimomura"
