heh, just been looking at it some more. i think it could be one of my favourites because of the lovely mood you set. but after comparing it to your most recent picture (which i LOVE! wish i could see all those little veins irl), i can certainly see how well you've developed your style.
it's like to start with, you were doing lovely pictures, but you were a little unsure. you seem so much bolder with your pictures now, and they work so much better for it.
nevertheless, this is still one of my favourites, as an "early nell"

I've just realised how much of your work i haven't actually seen. 
Nevertheless this picture is definitely your style, and I can see what you mean about the old style paintings. This really reminds me of the illustrations in those Victorian fairy books, with the flowing hair, the dainty legs and the lovely clothes. The only thing I don't like so much are the wings, since they feel a bit....woven, if you know what I mean, but it's not anything major, it's just me. 
My fave things - the colour purple, as usual.

You say that this is inspired by the Old Masters, and I can well believe it. This is truly wonderful work, and it's quite a rare treat to find such traditionalism in art nowadays. I'm a fan already! I hope and wonder if your other work may be in the same vein as this. The use of watercolours, as well as the choice of subject matter, immediately reminds me of Alan Lee and Brian Fraud, two of my favourite artists. This is too my medium of choice. I love the mixtures of colours that you've chosen here. The soft, lush purples and lilacs give this a calm, enchanting, ethereal and whimsical look that I always find most pleasing in art. It's the greatest form of escapism, at least to me. She also looks beautifully coy and other-worldly, in a way that befits her seperation from out lowly world. I particularly like the long strands of her flowing hair.
Art like this truly inspires me.
