For DulcetRefrainFinally done! *v* It took longer than I expected but it came out ok (I think?) OTL
I don't know how most people do it but usually, I just animate straight on, like I don't even think about how things really look until it's all finished and I play it back (only to realize that it looks like crap OTL OTL) but this time, I decided to animate each moving part individually, like hair in one layer, face in one layer... etc which took a lot more time but I think it has a better result in the end? I still have a longs way to go QuQ
But fuuuudge please don't make me animate wings again *crai* Its was so hard QQQQQQQQQQQQ_____________QQQQQQQQQQQ
Tools: Krita
Frame: 22 at 12fps
Time Taken: I'd say about 8 to 10 hours but I work on and off throughout a week or two so I'm not really sure OTL

I don't currently take animation commissions. Generally, when I feel like animating someone else's character, I make a YCH like of whatever movement I feel like animating
and then animate it just like the YCH but with whomever's character that wins the YCH. QuQ
Currently, I don't have any open YCH's so you'll have to check back every once in a while for any new and open ones OTL

Heya, I'm n aspiring artist who's taken an interest in animation.
Think you can lead me to any good tip videos or websites, something that'll help me get my feet wet. Adobe Flash just doesn't support a lot of digital tools for artist. This program might be the solution I'm looking for. :>

I don't know how it works with more 'smooth' animations, but making different layers has always helped me. (And if you look at my DA page I won't have any animation on it because all of mine are still crap XP)

i have a quick question tho, since i'm just learning how to animate now. why 22 frames at 12fps? does it give off a different effect? or maybe cause i'm a noob i just don't understand how the timing works? lol anyhow, just curious.

Well, tbh, I just keep playing it back at different speeds to see which I like best and played back on12fps was pretty much at the speed of how I wanted it to look. OTL
It's not really planned out to be this exact number of frames to this exact frame rate it just kind of happens that way ;;;;;
The number of frames tho is based on how smooth you want the movement to look. You can get away with a less number of frames and frame rate and still have a functional animation. It just depends on what your vision is. If you're looking for a really smooth animation, you put in more frames with higher frame rate and vice versa for less smooth animation.
In this particular piece, I knew I wanted a smoother animation than my usual ones so I put in more inbetweens that I would normally do. Then I play it back at different speeds to see which I like best. Sometimes I'll add or subtract a frame or two after play back to get the timing right but yeah. That's about it is for me. There now formula. Trial and error is generally how I get it right (eventually) OTL sorry if that doesn't help QuQ

You can find quick tutorials on youtube QuQb that's how I figured out the basics.
If you're just looking for the animation tools, go to settings > dockers > animation and you'll find the animation controls (like playback, frame rate, etc and also settings > dockers > timeline will bring up the timeline
Make sure you have the updated version of Krita because they've only recently added the animation feature so if you have the old version, you might not find it ^^
